1. makes sense...but that's not the impression i got when looking at the tour page of U2.com with the different camera angles....but then again, it's U2.com
  2. I think the reason why there's no GA standing behind the stage is that
there probably the inner stage will be moved to the outer circle to get the band
there and people standing there would be crushed ...

i don't like these red zones
  3. Just my thoughts on these RED Zones,

Well.... Basically I've seen U2 three times, but all times I was always at the back of the arena or stadium, Now with this tour I have a friend that's willing to stand in the line and wait with me to possibly try and get up close. I thought maybe this time, maybe I'll get to see the color of Bono's glasses or see which guitar Edge is using, but now I'm not so sure it's even possible.
I finally have GA tickets with Depeche Mode and I've already had Morrissey sing to me, but what about U2, what about U2..............

I know it's going to be a Great time either way, but why do I have to be in some auction and pay all kinds of money just to be close enough to see these guys play?

Here's to hoping that I'm able to accomplish this seemingly impossible mission, maybe I'll just have to accept that I'll meet Bono and the Band only in my Dreams......
  4. U2 auctions best tickets to highest bidders

    Irish Independent, March 16, 2009

    Alistair Grant

U2 ARE selling stage-front tickets for their summer tour to the highest bidder with part of the proceeds going to Bono's controversial Product Red charity.

The rockers are auctioning hundreds of the best tickets during the tour, with bidding starting at between (EU)99 and (EU)110 and prices expected to reach hundreds of euro.

Product Red, set up by Bono in 2006 to help fund the fight against AIDS, will receive a "proportion" of each ticket price, with the rest going to U2's concert promoter Live Nation.

    Criticised

The business has been criticised after brands, including Apple, Emporio Armani and Gap, created speciallybranded Red products but only donated between 1pc and 50pc of their sales to fight AIDS.

Singer Bono has helped to raise billions in aid for Africa. However, there have been concerns about fund-raising activities because traditional charity donations often see 100pc of proceeds given to good causes -- and not just a percentage.

A spokesman for U2's PR agency RMP was unavailable to discuss what percentage of the auction ticket prices would be donated to fight AIDS.

U2 will play Croke Park on July 24 and 25, Wembley Stadium in London on August 14, Glasgow's Hampden Park on August 18, Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium on August 20 and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on August 22.

Live Nation have been plugging the 10,000-plus tickets for each U2 gig available for (EU)34, but the tickets with the best view will be sold by the auction.

The auctions for the first concerts on sale, in Gothenburg and Amsterdam, close on Wednesday. Normal tickets for Gothenburg gigs on July 31 and August 1 sold out immediately after going on sale on Friday.

General standing tickets for gigs in Ireland are expected to cost (EU)60, with the cheapest (EU)34 tickets at the furthest point from the stage. Other tickets will cost (EU)92. They go on sale at 8am on Friday.

A statement from Ticketmaster said: "A proportion of the proceeds of the RED Zone Packages will be given in support of the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa."
  5. what do you think will hapen if let's say half of the red zone tickets will not be sold?

filled up with normal GA, kept empty?
    we'll see
  6. Kept empty, since Red zone seems to be standing AND seating, I think they even can choose what to do there.

Though I'm sure it will all be sold, no matter the price.

So, "Red Zone" for Croke Park-Dublin is only that small areas at both sides of the stadium... I think
  8. It's segregation.
they are segregating the rich from the poor. I can see a few bottles of piss getting hurled at the red zone corporate whores.

    ts'gotta be done.
  10. I'm trying to remember- were the Vertigo tour ticket upgrades due to length of U2.com/Prop membership, or was it truly random? I was kind of peeved because I was at the arena of the show I went to the night before and ended up outside the circle...at any rate, I'll just be happy to get into a stadium...it's a great experience to spend a day (and a night) with other rabid U2 fans...
