1. U2wanderer says:

(single CD) The Japanese release seems to be the only version of the single CD that contained the bonus track "The Fly" although other countries had included it on their double album sets.

(double CD) For this compilation, the bonus track is "The Fly" and it was added in both the UK and in Japan, and it was added to the end of the first disc of the set.

  2. According to U2wanderer the Korean and Taiwanese 2CD versions of "Best of 1990-2000" also included "The Fly".

But I doubt we'll hear it on any edition of "Best of 2000-2010"

  3. They haven't done enough work in this decade to have another best of. And even if they did I wouldn't buy it. The first 2 didn't represent their respectful decades AT ALL. U2 has too many good songs per album to have a proper best of. Maybe it's because I'm a huge U2 fan. I'm sure the general public likes the best of's to play in their car (my dad does) but the 80's one didn't Out of Control, Bullet The Blue Sky, Gloria, Homecoming, and so on. I could name many more, but those are the obvious choices.
  4. Ah, it was a bonus track Now I see Thanks for clearing that up fellas

  5. What they COULD do for "Best of 2000-2010" is to include a few obscure songs like "Father Christmas", "Ronnie Drew" or "Beat on the Brat". Not that I consider that a brilliant idea, but they COULD do it. They COULD also include a few modernized rerecordings of "I will follow", "A Day without me" or "Gloria". So they COULD avoid an awkward compilation from mostly two albums.

If "Songs of Ascent" really sees the light of day it'll be different of course. That would be a much more comfortable situation.

  6. 1)Firstly is anyone expecting a U2 best of 2000-2010 album to follow tradition?

I'm not expecting it but if it was to come out it might be two - three years after 2010.

1a) If so would that just include songs from the HTDAAB album and the one they are currently working on? Because songs from the ATYCLB album (2001) were used in the best of 1990-2000 album (not being picky honestly )

I guess all the best stuff from 2000 - 2009, with a few new songs from various sessions. So some stuff from HTDAAB, ATYCLB, a few from NLOTH.

    2) Since the 1990-2000 album which included HTBA and HMTMKMKM all of which are soundtracks and are not on any album as is Electrical strom (I think), and despite the vertigo tour taking a lot of time, they haven't made any soundtrack songs yet to feature on the 2000-2010 album.

Tower of Song with Leonard Cohen, was that one?

    3) Any opinons about the 1990-2000 album? I think its a good album, but there are so many great songs left out (could be better)

    It was crap.

    4) When U2 release Best Ofs albums they apparently release an edition of it with the best b-sides of that era. Are the Best of and b-side album released on the same date as the regular best of, cos I always seem to not notice it?

    I think so.

    5) There has been dicussion before about our favourite compilations, but I have to say that the Best of 1980-1990 record is such a strong collection of songs and it sounds coherent. To me this is the best official compilation.

The 1980 - 1990 is the better one. Heaps of great B-sides and all the awesome 80s stuff.

    6) Do people regard the Passengers album as an Official U2 album? WHat do you think of that album?

Yep, and I love it. It's better than HTDAAB, ATYCLB and War put together.
