Quite frankly he will be coming with me and I do not feel bad about it !
Exactly! I also like letting friends who have never seen U2 live come along. That's how U2 fans are made!

It's interesting that people easily accept different price categories for seats but none at all for the field. If the field traditionally, at all big concerts, had been divided into 10 different zones, or whatever, people wouldn't question it. It's all a matter of tradition, isn't it?

no it's a matter of fairness.

and you can rather afford time to qeue than money to buy tickets. or get yourself a pair of elbows, might help, too.

  3. Why is it fair then, that people who are willing to pay more can buy better seats?

Taking time off might cost money.

And some people simply can't take time off (unless they want to lose their jobs). Tell them it's a fair system.

And since when did sharp elbows have anything to do with fair...? Just asking.

(I'm not upset, in case you think so. This is just a very interesting discussion! )
  4. Lets all just go and chill

  5. see my posts above.
tribune =/= bottom crowd. there are no seats, it's just one big area. everyone has the same right to stand where ever they like for the same amount of money, they only gotta be fast enough or, as I tried to imply, use their elbows to push their way through. it's a bit of a fight, it's a bit of luck, but everyone generally got the same chance. with the red zone, however, that equal chance vanished.

so far (for me), it was fine that people can buy better seats, because I still had the option to get an affordable GA ticket and have my nice spot nonetheless. it was well-balanced, so to say. the red zone is destroying that balance, imo.
  6. When I'm there I don't really care about the folks in the Red Zone. Let's see how it works out..
  7. we'll see i just hope i CAN reach for Bono when its possible that would be nice...
  8. Hey folks, chill about the Red Zone. It's at the side, and you can win tickets cheaper than some of the seating! I've been lucky enough to get Red Zone today for Cardiff for £95 - bargain!

For Vertigo, I did queue up from mid-day to get in that bit at the front (and succeeded), but this time my 10 year old daughter wants to come and I don't fancy popping through those metal gates with her again - bad enough just me and the wife last time - I though her eyes were going to explode in the crush! I've been a life long fan, I'm not rich and I took a punt on what I wanted to pay to be near the stage. And I'm delighted.

Oh and no champagne for me - a pint of Brains'll do. People in the RED Zone are still the public (and just as die - hard U2 fans who are willing to scrape a few extra quid to get near the stage) - no corporate VIPs - and we promise to look really rock n roll for the DVD

wow - well done on getting those tickets - do you mind me asking what your maximum bid was? I was following this auction but the Group 1 ticket prices were way too much - but I would definately pay £95 for red zone!
  10. I have today got Red Zone tickets for Dublin #2 - I am a true U2 fan - saw them twice on the vertigo tour both seated (one lot of tickets off ebay v. reasonable) and the second lot for Dubin through an event company that cost me a bloomin fortune. This time I wanted to be closer but I cant afford the time to queue all day and I'm not sure I could cope with the crowd.

I want to be closer and I work damn hard so really I can choose what to spend my cash on.

Please be sure that the true fans will be partying hard and I cant wait!

Yes, I am delighted!! I really wanted Wembley as already had good seats for Cardiff, but Wembley auctions were already at £130+. So I put in the minimum bid - £95, but was fortunate enough to still get in.

If they do the same again for wembley 2, note that it is different to ebay - what you bid is what you pay if it is enough. So if you bid £150, but £95 is still enough to win, they still take £150. And also note that earlier bidders get preference, so if the numbers work out that 50% of the £95 bidders arein, they will give tickets to the 50% who bid first. Does that all make sense?

I'm glad there are some sensible people on this forum - some of the earlier ranting was a bit disturbing. Maybe they see themselves as die-hard rock fans, but were they at Torquay Town Hall to see the Clash in 1978?
