@ Mark- if you though the song was an epiphany, it just highlights my point, as the meaning is clearly different.

Anyway, as it is abundantly clear here that you cannot argue your point with mods.
I will change my opinion and say that 'MoS is a masterpiece and anyone who disagrees is an idiot'.

    There, happy?

    yes.

No no, I didn't mean lyrically. Just the music. The lyrics point out something completely different, true. Just music-wise it gave me just a little bit of hope in my life

    Yep, that made me happy
No really, you're allowed to dislike the song. I do the same: I completely hate The Joshua Tree, not loads of people like that. But I think that some people might get the feeling you don't show a lot of respect for other's opinions. Not everyone likes the song because 'it's new' or because we had enough of the old ballads. Some people like it for really good reasons.

  3. Keep it on.

No. You're a complete idiot if you think I don't like to have a good argument about an emotive subject.

    However.

I will not tolerate your blanket refusal to accept another posters opinion. What on earth makes you think you have the right to dismiss the view of others with your semi-postulated, inaccurate theories about objectivity/subjectivity? You have been droning the same points now since this post in this thread a significantly long time ago:-

The first verse got my expectations up with great lyrics well sung. The rest never reached the same high point. And the chorus is terribly boring with cliched singing (reminds me of ATYCLB, Peace on Earth, or something)

Gorgeously melodic? Please, One is gorgeously melodic, So Cruel is too, MoS is not.
Mercy is head and shoulders better 'long' song, and I'm not even a Mercy fan. They should have put that on the album instead.

You are not arguing a point. You are ramming your opinion down everyone's throat and we are getting tired of it. As I have said in my last few posts; you don't think the song is that great. You like it, but not that much. We get it. Seriously. We do. Fine. Lovely. Go listen to One, Love is Blindness or So Cruel.

So, for the final time. Unless you have something fresh to add, do NOT post in this thread again. We have already wasted an entire page because of your refusal to accept this.

  5. right back to the song

  6. Biggest thing I've noticed recently is how I get to the guitar solo and think "fuck me, where did the last 5 minutes go?"

    Seems so short. Wow
