it better be. Apparently the store is launching with 20,000 apps. Quality can't be predicted though because of the huge range of devices. Apples app store is very lucky that it only has to tailor to 2 devices

I read the 20.000 'apps' were mostly videos, ringtones and wallpapers. When does the thing launch?

That does look likely at launch but with very good reason. Nokia have literally hundreds of different devices out there so an app that works for this won't work for that. It'l be interestung to see how they work around that. It is likely though that only all the main popular devices get the good stuff. Devices like the E71, N95 and the 5800 eg. Apple cater only for the iPhone and the one OS. They're app store will be hard to topple.

I would love to see apps for my Nokia 3310
  5. Hows that 5800 going Casper? Was looking at the N97 but cant see where its huge price increase over the 5800 gets its justification. Slightly better camera and a physical keyboard but I hate moving parts on phones so the 5800 could be the one for me. Or the HTC Hero. I do like my Nokias though

Great so far. There is the usual jam every now and then (once in 3 weeks), but overall it's great. Been using it for two months now and the battery has a good lifetime too. With normal use (browsing a bit, texting, calling, Google Maps) it will take 2 to 3 days for him to get empty.

It still feels solid to me, although it's plastic material. I use the landscape-mode QWERTY, which works great and I hardly use the pincet, only with small objects in the browser. And as the time goes by, more and more apps become available. Using Nimbuzz for Messaging, Google Maps for GPS and navigation, Opera Mini for browsing etc.

The N97 will indeed have a higher price tag for its materials, the physical keyboard and because it's new...from what I've seen in several previews, it's all the same except for the mentioned extras.

And Symbian 60 v5 works very smooth..love it!
  7. Oh, and the touchscreen doesn't have a single scratch without any protection and after intensive use.
  8. I'll take a chance on the 5800 when I upgrade next month. I'll get it free and still be able to get a price cut on my contract. If I don't warn to it then i'll sell it and my E71 and get the HTC Hero and try some Android

In Holland we would say: 'Als je het niet probeert weet je het ook niet'...Chris Martin would say: 'If you'll never try, then you'll never know..'

I think you won't regret it.
  10. My phone for the next 1½ years is the Samsung Eternity (SGH-a867). It doesn't have all of the cool aps like an iPhone, but I didn't have to upgrade my plan which was a huge plus for me.

  11. The new one I got - a 6500 slider. Quite a fancy little thing - and with a 4GB memory card too!!!
