Would love to hear it Edge singing, no falsetto, just ala SBS during PopMart

a good choice could be Van Diemens Land , don't you like?

    Great idea!
Now let's hope the lads browse some forum threads to gather ideas for their setlist!

Putting into consideration what Edge recently said about the possible content of a setlist, this would be my suggestion:

    Get On Your Boots
    Stand Up Comedy
    Vertigo
    The Unforgettable Fire
    October
    Sunday Bloody Sunday
    Breathe
    Mercy
    One
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Van Diemen's Land (Edge solo) (acoustic)
    Walk On (acoustic)
    City Of Blinding Lights
I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight
    All I Want Is You
    Bad
    Unknown Caller
Where The Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
    Magnificent

    Discotheque
    Elevation
    Beautiful Day
    No Line On The Horizon
    The Wanderer

If anyone would sing it, it would only be suitable to be Bono seeing as it's a song about his mother? That's my opinion anyway, I just don't Edge doing a solo version on his own. I think tchezao's suggestion for Van Diemen's Land would be more probable. Acoustic maybe, with Bono singing, but that would seem a bit, I dunno, it just doesn't fit for me. That's not to say that I've got my finger on the pulse and that my opinion's any more valid than yours or anyone else's, I just personally can't see it happening or even being considered because of the context of the song.
  4. Regarding the '5' songs that they will be playing live its really not that hard to work out....

Here are the album tracks with reasons why/why not.

    1) No Line On The Horizon - Has been played live and is the album track. Of course its going to be played probably a version inbetween the album and the remix track. Similar to the live version from U2 HQ.

    2) Magnificent - Played live and already a massive fan favourite. It's in

    3) Moment of Surrender - It's out im afraid. Basically because of the different mix of organ/piano, guitar and singing. It would be played in a different way or acoustic for it to work.

    4) Unknown Caller - I dont think its one of the 'five'. Could be played live. The problems would be for The Edge as the singing/playing is quite different rythme wise so it depends if it could all work together

    5) Crazy Tonight - Played live, changed from a piano/keyboards to a funky guitar with a great shouting line to finish the chorus - It's in

    6) Get On Your Boots - Heavily promoted, Tour was gonna be called Kiss the Future. Love it or hate it, its being played at every single concert.

    7) Stand Up - I think this would be an amazing song live but once again it hasn't had any live performances to date so I think the other songs will take it's rightful place.

    8) Fez/Being Born - Experimental, hard to play a 'full' version. Scratch this one for opening night.

    9) White as Snow - Perhaps acoustic later on but its not going to be seen in Barcelona

    10) Breathe - Another heavily promoted song. Its a must and will blow everyone away. The first song from the album where U2 connected with the audience (Check out the Letterman performance)

    11) Cedars of Lebanon - Well we already have 5 so no need to comment on this one!!
  5. If they drop Kite altogether, I will be pretty pissed off. I was there to see them close the first Auckland show with it in Nov 06 (with its extended solo) and it was the highlight of that show! Its a natural replacement for something like One if people are getting somewhat bored of that

  6. I agree with you virtually completely.

I'm not sure where this fixation with 5 songs has come from though. Edge's quote was 'about half the album', which could mean anything from 4 - 7 songs. If so, easily add Unknown Caller and Stand Up to that list. I'm also convinced they will want to play Moment, if they can figure it out. Maybe not in Barca though...........

I guess it came from a lil survey over at u2.com.
  8. The survey only said that there were going to be five songs on the opening night. They'll probably add the more complex songs later on. I think they don't want to play songs which they're not yet sure of how to play, because that would probably mean that they're not going to be played any more at all: for example Do You Feel Loved, it was a real waste that they fucked it up on the first few nights of Popmart and as a result didn't dare to play it any more.

anyhow they still have plenty of time and days to figure out how to play the more complex songs .

Oh, I'm with tchezao too, Van Diemen's Land would fit way better yes But if they wanna play Lemon I think acoustic would be the only way..I think. Tough chances are small they will play it in the end...it's just a regular tune when not sung with the falsetto...all we can do is wait...

Couldn't agree more mate, you know exactly what you are talking about
  12. No Line, Boots, Magnificent, Stand Up, Crazy and Breathe will defo be played. White As Snow could be added to the traditional acoustic set Staring At The Sun - Stay, though I wish they played these song full-band. They might try to figure out how to play Unknown Caller which would be a total killer live. Moment of Surrender would be a challenge for Bono, not sure if he'll manage to sing it every night. Fez-Being Born could be a good opener. The only new song they shouldn't play live is Cedars.
