We never denied his talent. But can you honestly look at a picture such as this one and not be unsettled?

I know, an argument in a memorial topic, it's bad. Disrespectful, unsettling and shouldn't be happening. My apologies to everybody who just said "RIP" or something.

If you had read my post correctly I acknowledeged his short comings. And I'm not saying you have to love his music but for people to respect him for his talent and contribution to the music and entertainment world let alone his contributions to charieties.

Woops, I missed "Regardless of his character issues"... bad on my part.

  3. anyways if Bono, Edge, Adam, and/or Larry looked hideous would that dissway your intrest for U2's music?

  4. Phil Spector looked like shit, yet many thought his music techniques were brilliant. If you're listening to a song, you shouldn't give a fuck what the person looks like.

On a music video perhaps...but the good ones are pre-1993. What about The Rolling Stones, what about Aerosmith - you know? They're not all exactly stunner material, yet people love their songs. Why? Because they're timeless. The person may have died, but the music is what makes the person an entertainer. As Sergio might tell you, HIStory is a brilliant piece of work. Both sides.

You need to listen to it. It's a story. The hairdos in U2 never put me off - you'd think they would.

I'm there with Alex and U2Nick.

Nick didn't say that he doesn't have any respect for him, but just that he didn't like his person. It's you who are one dimensional because you don't know Nick and yet you judge him.

Personally I don't feel any sadness because he didn't do anything relevant in time when my musical taste was getting its shape. And as somebody said it feels like I'm the only one.

I had hours and hours talk with my friends about music and nobody ever mentioned him, but today most of them are shocked and they post his videos on Facebook every 2 minutes. I don't get it, it feels like people enjoy when something like this happens (real fans excluded).

    AMEN.

Topic should be closed now. I won't do it because there are more people with grief in their hearts and I wanna leave them a place to express it...
But that post, Drew, that post is legendary. Amen.

Just the whole world is in shock. 18 days from his big comeback and it's not to be.

As a memory, his last live performance was at the Apollo Theatre in 2003 - Man In The Mirror.

Obviously you don't appreciate opinions. I never said he sucked, I just don't like his music and therefore I won't be that emotional. I don't say I'm happy he's dead, because it is a big loss for the music industry and for anyone loving music, like me. But personally, I'm not that emotional because it's not my kind of music.

Opinions are opinions. It needs to be respected. Not everyone was into the music he made, and fair play to them.

I still remember the huge premiere of Ghosts in 1997. A 40-minute music video was unheard of at the time. And then in 2001...You Rock My World.

That's when it all started going downhill. But that's for another day.

  10. I honestly don't know. Maybe. Luckily, they don't creep me out, or make me want to sleep with a light on.

  11. Indeed, I understand people being devastated and upset. But don't tell me I deny Jackson's musical talent (not you Drew, I know), would be ridiculous to think that. Anyway, message sent. Let's quit this non-going argument.
