1. Very well known story about Ali Baba and the 40 robbers (if thats right translated) but I have no idea why Bono shouts that. It just sounds cool

......until last night...........it really was an unbeatable concert...the crowd and band were just amazing......I was just gutted when moment of surrender ended...the energy in the pit was abosolutely crazy!

And vertigo.......i never listen to this song ever on my ipod......but that performance yesterday was the best performance of any song...ever.....maybe it was just where I was standing...but everyone around me totally lost it!

Just back and have to agree about how much better Saturday was than Friday. Sound vastly improved by opening the roof at either end which prevented a lot of the echo that spoiled Friday. much better atmosphere as well, the crowd were superb.
  3. 2nd time ive seen u2 on this tour.and saturday night was amzing.
    the set list was sublime,

    uteofw,bad,nyd,stay, all amazing.they were on fire last night.the band,the setlist,the crowd.
loved the 2 tribes snippet and stand by me.

paris was good, wembley on saturday was off the scale.

u2 and especially bono seem to be on fire right now.

    roll on new york.
u2 and muse in the same night.on that stage.will be incredible.

    that stage is something else.

best show i have ever seen.best night of my life musically.
  4. Well, as stated earlier, my review of the first night (14/08/2009).

Before the show came around, I'd already downloaded 7 or 8 of the shows from the tour and all seem to have a slightly different quality about them but the setlist similarity in them makes them a bit boring after a while, I'll find myself going back and just picking out highlights. I was hoping that the Wembley show would be different and just be first class from start to finish, which as we all know is Breathe to Moment of Surrender.

I've also spent a few night on here and on tweeter following the shows as the occur live and thinking "Jeez, it's the same as last night". This was my first U2 show and to be quite honest I wasn't as excited as I thought I'd be. Pride, with Or Without You, One, possibilty of Stuck In A Moment and so forth. Songs I wasn't looking forward to. Walking up to the stadium we heard Breathe (either over the stadium speakers of soundcheck) then some guy was blasting Stand Up Comedy out from his car as he went to park. I still wasn't excited enough, probably because I knew there were still 4 hours to go. The support acts I was pleasently surprised by, even if the sound was a bit shit up the top. Even up to Space Oddity I wasn't overly excited (probably be a different matter if I was standing, but finance doesn't shine on us all).

But then Larry walked on over that little bridge and I was awash with excitement. Unfortunately though, nobody was interacting where I was sitting, they were just, well sitting. Then the first notes of Beautiful Day came out and rang around the stadium and the entire stand I was in, along with the stand opposite the stage were on their feet singing and cheering (I can't speak for the stand opposite us, but I'm sure they were up).

It was something that would last for pretty much the rest of the show, we were singing our hearts out and having the time of our lives. In fact the only songs where the fans around us were having a rest/didn't know what was going on were Unforgettable Fire, Unknown Caller, Crazy Tonight, Ultra Violet and MoS. But it was just a select few that were sitting down, the rest of us were on our feet belting them out.

I enjoyed each and every song, even those I wasn't looking forward too. I just didn't care and was singing along to them! From where I was situated, there was a bit of echo and distortion, but nothing that actually bothered me. It was just a fantastic night. One I'll never ever forget.

Even on the way out, heading down the many flights of stairs, we could hear fans from the top tier singing moment of surrender in the corridors at a considerable volume. Guess none of us wanted it to end.

You can listen to all the bootlegs you like and sit at home judging the show, but nothing can prepare you for the real thing. Nothing can take any of the specialness out of that show in my opinion. Just unbelievable. Fantastic day out and an even more fantastic night.

    Roll on sheffield.

My sentiments exactly, although I was buzzing from the minute I got on the coach at Norwich at 11:25 and even moreso when Wembley appeared in the windows from far off. Such a great night, never forget it.
  6. nice one Tim, totally agree, luckily it was me and my cousin stood just outisde the red zone with none behind us, and just lost our elves in the music. i'm not going to right a long review but i may just add that, after a fair bit of critisism Elevation was a real rocking performance, a real stand out

  7. On paper i wouldn't have enjoyed that show I don't think, but my god it was just a blast. Even the songs that are criticised, like you said with Elevation, they just were brilliant.

Yeah, you do wonder why they play these songs endlessly, songs such as Pride, but I think I found the reason at Wembley. New fan or old fan, you just get lost in the songs regardless, they're guaranteed to get you going mad.

Some photos being uploaded as we speak.

Completely agree - bootlegs can be so misleading, the only real way to enjoy a show is to be there, but that's not to say that I'll never listen to another bootleg now lol. You can get a pretty good idea, but being there is something special that I appreciate all too well now. I've got not one bad thing to say about the gig, it was mindblowing, and I know I've probably mentioned it before but during ISHFWILF, when the entire stadium sang as one, and then where the lights lit up the stadium and Bono started singing "look around" and I just took a moment to gaze, I'll never forget those moments. Simply astounding.

Well you get the audio with a bootleg. The audio and visuals with a DVD. But all of them lack the most important thing about a U2 gig - the special individual atmosphere. I enjoy listening to bootlegs and watching DVD's but they just do not compare to the real thing. I've being watching videos of Wembley I on Youtube and I just go back to the night, I can hear everyone singing around me.

It's like when people experience something horrific and you hear them say that they can't forget the smell, the voices, screaming etc. Well it's the same, only this time it was a great experience.

I still hear those fans on the floor above us after the show had finished singing Moment of Surrender, it's these little things that make it special. Same goes for ISHFWILF, the band have heard it all before, but still they're amazed at the crowd singing their songs in unison. I shalln't forget Bono just standing there, then looking around the full circumference of the stadium to take it all in. I wish we could've carried the whole song on our own mind you

Haha yeah, 'twas pretty much the ultimate karaoke

Like ISHFWILF, I remember Bono during WOWY during the outro. (or somewhere around then) when he stopped singing and just had the most incredible smile splashed across his face, looking like he was just swept up in it all as much as we were. There are so many similar instances you could point to, and like you I keep remembering the people around me singing their hearts out - so fantastic. I really could go on all night but I'll spare everyone else
  11. Haha lol, we live it all over again in 4 days! Got some photos uploaded, just waiting on approval. Got a brilliant shot during Streets.

I know, can't wait lol the only really good shot I got was during TUF and maybe Ultra Violet too, but it was difficult seeing as the phone on my camera isn't amazing and doesn't have flash, but it was pretty much what I was seeing and I going pretty mad lol...will be cool to see your pics fella
