    A few of my friends from uni. having been getting me into them, and so it's bloody typical but having been checking 'em out, you have to say it was on the cards, with the quotes the Gallaghers have been coming out with. Sad but hey, all good things come to an end. I listened to Noel's live album from the Albert Hall earlier in the year, and if that's a sign of things to come then I'd look forward to any potential genuine solo work.

    Ya i juIst got into them a couple years back....well apast their glory days. I did get to see them on their most recent Dig Out Your Soul Tour when they came across the pond so i'm glad to have been able to see them once in my life before they split. I'd recommend continuing to get into them even though they have split, alot of their stuff is really outstanding. The band may be gone but the songs live on.
  5. Oasis' time was over long ago. Aside from one great album and one half decent one, all they've done is release the same album over and over since (What's the Story) Morning Glory? A blistering debut with its balls hanging out and an image/reputation at odds with anything else at the time... Well, that arrogant swagger just came to look more and more desperate as time went on, don't you think? Oasis splitting up now is no great tragedy, just inevitable. Noel Gallagher has seen the writing on the wall, THAT'S why he's gone, not because of any problems with his brother.


  6. Are they not always breaking up? Liam has left a few times before and Noel I'm sure has gone a couple of times as well.

    If it is final that Oasis has finished I can't imagine too many people being that upset. Their output the last few years has been pretty bland and never really gained the glory of What's the Story. They had a few great singles over time and the reality is that Noel was the one with all the talent anyway.

    I'm sure that at some point you are going to see Noel doing his own thing. Liam on the other hand will get by sitting in a bar somewhere getting free drinks as he recounts "boring stories of glory days!" I honestly can't see him doing anything solo.

    Agree, sadly enough. Think Noel will get back on again, he can't live with or without Oasis I think...And as you said this is not the first time such a thing happens..
  8. It's a pity - the two brothers have always said that their issues add to the band, but I think that's bullshit. Their issues are very much in their way - in the way of the band, and in the way of their respective lives. Those two guys have unresolved issues - they should both look for psychological help. It's a pity if they really split - I think the band still has quite some potential. On the other hand, I look forward to Noel's solo album. And, why not, to Oasis without Noel (mmm... - even worse than Pink Floyd without Roger Waters).
  9. Dunno why, but it doesn't make me sad at all. Oasis released only 2 great albums (Defo Maybe and Morning Glory) and everything after that lacks the magic of those two. Don't Believe The Truth is good, but the rest of their songbook isn't very impressive. Liam actually yells rather than sings. Noel is very talented, I'm pretty sure he'll do fine on his own. He might be a great solo artist like e.g. Paul Weller.

    Looks like the big British bands of the 90's are splitting up this summer. The Verve, now Oasis...let's see how much time Blur need
  10. I just can't believe that. I really can't. I know that most of U2 fans don't like Oasis, but I love them, I wasn't expecting this now.

    I just want to wake up from this terrible nightmare.
  11. Would be a shame if the break up is for real. Probably the last really big rock'n'roll band. The times they released great albums are long gone anyways, but their concerts (yes, Oasis played concerts, no shows) were still great.

    I totally agree - I think U2 still are a big rock'n'roll band, though, so I'd say one of the last - indeed, very few - rock'n'roll bands. Noel will do fine on his own, but Liam's a great singer - studio, and live when the voice (and the mood) is there.
