Their latest album gave me the feeling that they were really back on it, but now this happens...I don't say all the albums outside Defenitely Maybe and Morning Glory are crap but they just don't do it to me like those just mentioned. And you're right about Oasis putting on a rock'n roll concert. U2 puts on a rock show, and that's a huge difference. Hopefully Noel somehow gets back on track with Oasis in the future. Alright, let's put on Champagne Supernova here, at the moment my favourite Oasis track..

i feel like Oasis was doomed for releasing two great albums as their first two
every single work of them after that NEEDED to be compared with Definitely Maybe and (What's The Story) Morning Glory, and this have always pissed me off

Standing On The Shoulders of Giants and Heathen Chemistry are considered their lowest point, but even so we can hear great songs from those albums: Fuckin' In The Bushes, Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love, Gas Panic, Where Did It All Go Wrong, Sunday Morning Call, Roll It Over, The Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird and Litlle By Litlle

and some b-sides too, like: Let's All Make Believe, Carry Us All, Solve My Mistery (this one is just a demo, actually), Idler's Dream, One Way Road, etc..

Funnily, my favorite Oasis album is The Masterplan.. a collection of 14 b-sides
if you haven't listened to this one yet, please do!
    it's nothing less than mind-blowing!

There in lies part of the problem...Noel wasted great songs like Acquiesce, The Masterplan, Whatever, (a single) Talk Tonight etc....as B sides when these songs were strong enough to make great albums out of instead of a collection of b sides. Oasis should have had 4 or 5 great albums from the mid to late nineties...not 2 and a half

    gotta agree with you!
Noel wasted a lot of great songs!

That's the problem most bands with an album like that as an debut. Everyone compares it with what they've heard before, there's nothing to do against that. It's the thing every fan has to deal with. Many of our members here do love the Pop-album, but the casual fans and outsiders rate it as one of U2's worst. Many people say that U2's glory days are far behind and that their new songs are completely nothing compared with the old classics. It's always that comparing. And I agree that's annoying some times. We often compare the latest U2 album with their best work, and that's not fair either.

Indeed Oasis' later albums do contain some brilliant songs (not only Stand By Me, but also the songs you mention (particularly Fuckin' In The Bushes and Gas Panic! in my opinion)), but those albums as a whole do miss something the first two albums did have. Probably it's the Noel-issue mentioned above. But live they still must be brilliant (I love Familiar To Millions very much for example, and I heard that their shows in Rotterdam some time ago were amazing). It's a shame I never caught them live and never will if Noel stays out of the band.

And 'The Masterplan' is the first album I'm going to listen to when I'm heading towards school.

  6. Man, I'm also a very huge Oasis fan from Brazil (from what city are you?)
But if you didn't read yet, read the text "where did it all go wrong?" in Oasisnews. That text gave me hope when I was lost of myself since friday night. I hope they're right!

    hey carol
I'm from Belém, and i went to all the gigs this year
guess this proves how much of a fan i am hehehe
noticed you're from Curitiba.. top city!
i've met Liam, Gem, Andy, Chris and Jay there, we were all at the same room waiting the plane to Porto Alegre! too bad Noel wasn't there.. but even so was one of the happiest moments in my life

i read that text and yes, it gives us hope.. but i don't know
if they do come back i don't see it happening before 5 years or more
  8. OH GOD, you met GEM??????????????????????? He's my favorite member, I love him, oooh he is so hot hahaha. You're very lucky, guy! I went only in Curitiba. and yeah, top night! One of the bests days of my life!

But you're right... I guess Noel will release his solo album, and in 4 years they'll be back. Peggy Gallagher said that they love each other and Oasis will not over now. I hope that!

  9. Well, we do have them anyway, don't we? There will be more to come, to be sure - I think everybody looks forward to his solo album, although it may not come out before even 1 or 2 years (the man must be tired after 1 year on the road).

But apparently Liam's got stuff of his own as well - ready made, apparently...
