Had a couple of listens now, and I'm not sure wether I like it or not.

It seems as if the lyrics dont fit into the rhythm, listen to the opening of United States Of Eurasia. That piano part doesnt go with the singing/lyrics for some reason.

Drums are horrible, became worse and worse every album.

But what I find most disturbing is the fact that every rock-artist seem to go on the hiphop-tour for some reason
Coldplay's Viva La Vida, U2's Moment Of Surrender (and the end of GOYB maybe) and now The Resistance....

Positive sides tough: lovely piano work, and the Exogenesis is awesome. Love the classic influences. Its also epic. The songs arent that great individual, but together...awesome
  2. took me a while to get into BH&R, but after a while i got into it, then again it fell behind Absolution and OoS. I wouldn't be to taken back by it. sometimes albums takes either a couple of listens are a couple of months to get into, especially with a band that changes style every album like Muse

    Agree.

Agree. Dom can drum the shit out of his kit, so why does he not do so?

Sort of disagree. You must be talking about loops. They are not that bad if they're used to support drums, but if they are meant to be the whole rhytmic part of a song, it's awful. Could be one of the reasons why I can't stand hip-hop, R'n'B and pop. The loops in Lost! don't bother me. I loved when U2 were closing the second show in Zagreb and the crowd ''played'' the loops in Moment of Surrender, it was beautiful. Loops in GOYB don't bother me either as Larry delivers some great drumming, anyway. But on the other hand, Muse are a band who should never use loops. I really don't like how some of the new songs sound so pop/hip-hop-py.

Would've been much better if they had put more work of this sort on the album instead.
  4. I LIKE it!
but in an album kind of way. Not one individual song stands out.

  6. Growing on me slowly...

  7. lol
    Same here

The start of the album is quite weak tbh (with Unclosed Desires and Resistance being lowlights), BUT once that epic organs of Unnatural Selection start the album really kicks off

And the ending is sooo beautiful epic, they really put work in that Exogenesis
  8. Officially out today here. Have my pre-order coming tonight.
