Pretty much the same story.
Remember BD being at #1 down here in Holland, loved the videoclip. Was also the very first song that I can remember as a song that I loved, before that I had no interest in music at all.

In 2007 I saw a commercial of 18 Singles. I loved BD, COBL, OOTS, Vertigo and Window In The Skies and I liked the U2 version of One (which I got to know when I first heard the Mary J Blige version

)

And I started to collect. More and more and more and more and more and more.

Saw Under a Blood Red Sky late one night on TV in 1985 and went out and bought the EP the next weekend along with UF, and War. In college (1984-1989) my dorm room was wall-to-wall U2!

For me in started in 1984 with Pride.

I already knew U2 of course, and people around were crazy about them around Boy, October and War. I didn't appreciate those albums that much until later.

But I started when The Unforgettable Fire was released (the first U2-lp I bought).

Back in late 2000 I think. Beautiful Day was on high rotation everywhere, and I was sitting in our livingroom watching TV with my sister and a girlfriend of her. Then Beautiful Day came on MTV, and my sisters friend said that she liked this song. I wasn't that interested in music back then, but when she said that I started to think, and after 2 seconds I realised that I actually loved that song! Soon after I bought the ATYCLB album, and listened to it all the time. Then I started with downloading

, and I got a real U2 collection on my computer, almost all the songs where U2 for a while.. But I think that, in my subconsciousness I always have liked U2, I remember from my younger years that I always would listen carefully to the radio when With or Without You was played, I loved that song, still does

For me it is the complete opposite of most of the people around here. When i got into U2 earlier this decade i layed it on my dad....who i've now taken to two concerts with me. He's not a huge fan...but i'm still working on him.

Good job! It's always good to have fans spreading the word... (I don't want to use the word "gospel"....that sounds too crappy).
Nice that your dad is open for that kind of thing.

It took me a while to become a big music fan. I did enjoy listening to music obviously but I never felt particularly passionate about any singer or band.

Then I heard Beautiful Day and Stuck in a moment................

I went out and bought those singles as soon as they came out. Shortly afterwards my brother gave me U2 The Best of 1980-1990 and I was kinda blown away. The two songs that stood out where 'Bad' and 'Streets.' But for some reason, which I regret now, I didnt fall in love with the band completely then. If I did, I could have gone to Slane 2001, but oh well. I had the two best of albums and I stuck with them for a while.
Then I remember hearing Vertigo up loud for the first time, I thought it was bloody fantastic, I mean I must have listened to it around 300 times the first week. So I went out and bought HTDAAB. After that I was hooked. 'Miracle Drug' and 'COBL' were instant favorites. Then I was convinced. I started buying the albums and DVDs and got a ticket for Croke Park during the Vertigo Tour.
Hearing Achtung Baby for the first time was special. I was immediately blown away by 'The Fly' and 'UTEOTW'.
And thats my story I suppose.
