1. This tour does have a distinct lack of segues....something u2 has been great at over their career.

I do like Crazy Tonight>Sunday Bloody Sunday though
  2. IT's the only notable one i can think of
  3. hmmm the gap -> UV segue is good enough for me

  4. As high as Wire, Pride, TUF and Lemon? Not by a chance, Gone has the " I'll be up with the sun" note, Bullet the Blue sky has the chorus and Please has some minor falsetto. Compared to those songs, Please/Gone and BTBS are "easy" songs to sing and mind that 2 out of the 4 songs I mentioned they play in nearly all concerts on this tour, so....

    True
  6. I went to both shows at Giants Stadium and I had a great time. The first night the band played 24 tunes. The average is 23.Your Blue Room was played the first night.I loved it.The band need to break out a rare song and play it more often. The sets were mixed up,but the same songs were basically played.Your Blue Room,NYD,Stuck and Desire (acoustic) were played the first night.Night 2 had UTEOTW,Stay and Unknown Caller. The other 20 songs from night 2,were played on night one.Once we got to UF,it was exactly the same.I mean, come on guys.Mix it more than that.We didnt even get Bad either night.But,7 different songs is not bad by U2s standards.I saw the band 10 times on ZooTV back in 1992 and every night the set was the same.EVERY SHOW.Except Boston,03.17.92,Edge sang Van Diemans Land.I obviously love this band, but they could mix up the sets more.Ultra Violet,WOWY,and MOS have closed EVERY show. Why not play a different song to close the show??.They closed the Vertigo shows with different songs.I saw the band 4 times on Vertigo and each show ended with a different song.05.17.05 it was Vertigo to end the gig.05.18.05,we had Bad.NYC MSG on 10.07.05 they closed with WOWO.And Phill y 10.16.05 it was 40. 4 shows,4 different endings. It can be done by the band..so why dont they end the shows with something different???????????...

  7. Walk On --> Streets was working pretty well at the end of the European leg.

Nothing of the RTTS--->Streets, Please-->> Streets calibre though, I agree

I also was a fan of Walk on--> Streets...that one was ditched prematurely

Vertigo Tour is not a good comparison as it was poor in most other respects.

The majority of the reasons for not mixing it up much have been discussed ad nauseam - Bono forgetting lyrics, video/lighting syncing, a common theme that they work out and like to perfect, most people only go to one show and would rather see a polished performance rather than a ropey one of an album track they've never heard of.
Most fans are not like us (mind, I only go to one gig each tour, so I'm very happy with the setlist) and don't pour over this stuff. Time to accept that. These are not intimate fanclub only shows they're doing here.
  10. I'm enjoying the surprises that are thrown up in the early part of the gigs. But I do think they should keep the opener of the 4 NLOTH songs.

I'd love to see more variety from COBL onwards. It's almost as if the band can just about give thier all in the opening slots and then keep the crowd hanging on for the old 'anthems' later on. I'd love to see Pride dropped from a great height. Wouldn't mind Streets even having a rest. And I've never been keen on 2 'slowies' together (think WOWY and One on Elevation) like WOWY and Moment Of Surrender. I've always thought SHFWILF needed to be dropped but I'm enjoying it this tour.

As for the segues - I'd love all 23 to be segued into each other! I think they may have missed a trick not seguing Unknown Caller into Streets, although it could easily be segued into UF I think.

And why is there virtually no mention of anything around the time of Pop!? Last Night On Earth would be great in the middle somewhere. I know everyone wants MoFo and I'd love to see it too, but something more likely is Gone or Discotheque/Staring At The Sun (another fabulous segue from Elevation tour).

And finally I may be crazy but they soundchecked Drowning Man plenty as they were warming up in Barca. Oh please, please, please, please PLAY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Done

Wouldn't mind Streets even having a rest.

    We've mentioned it a lot
And finally I may be crazy but they soundchecked Drowning Man plenty as they were warming up in Barca.

Willie said in a diary entry that it was too much of a downer. Doesn't seem to have stopped them with Your Blue Room though...
  12. Boy vs October vs Pop. Who will win?
