1. I don't think that Chicago audience is that lame. They sing along to many songs (the "sundaaay bloooody sundaaaay" they do alone gives me shivers everytimes... the "el-e-va-tion" chants are great too)... It's just that they don't go crazy as we the latins or (partially) the Irish or aussies... On the other hand, the average of passion put on by the audiences in USA and the audiences in Europe/South America/Oceania is very different. That has no discussion.

Sigh..........As I said,I have seen U2 many, many times over in NYC/NJ,Boston,Albany and Philly. The NYC/NY and Philly gigs were great. The post 9/11 shows were fantastic, but so were the many, many shows they played before, and after 9/11.If you want to see an American audience go wild here,go see the master,Bruce Springsteen. No European act can match the E street band live.

see the topic title.'U2' Live Audience. Not Bruce

Did you say before that you saw U2 in Europe?

I suspect the decision is based on numerous things far too mundane to discuss here. And wrong topic.

Suffice to say that I think what a number of us is saying is that if you look at the DVD's as a representation of a crowd then all the non-American DVD's have great crowds and the 2 American DVD's have lame crowds. That is a fact. It does not mean that all American crowds are poor.

Ok..I agree..but also, you are comparing arena crowds from Boston and Chicago, against stadium shows from Sydney,Slane and Milan.IMO the Dublin show from August 93 is better than Sydney, but the Sydney show at least has more songs from Zooropa, their new cd at the time.I dont know why the Boston show is put down so much.My problem with it is that it is not the full show.Bullet,WOWY,Streets/BAD,Kite are some of the best versions IMO.Slane is even cut ,Mysterious Ways is on the bonus material and is placed last on the cd for some reason.Im pro Europe.I think the best crowds are in Italy and Spain. No question there.I have seen many of my bands in Europe (Pearl Jam,Radiohead,Oasis) but not U2.

  4. I said I would love to see U2 in Europe.I have seen Oasis(07.21.00 Wembley) and Radiohead (Nov.26,27.03 Earls Court) in London. Both of course were fantastic. And I caught Pearl Jam in Barcelona 05.25.00.That was amazing and without a doubt the most intense audience that I have seen live.I also caught Radiohead in Warrinton England,at Victoria Park 10.02.00.That was the day Kid A was released in the UK.So,I think I can talk about the European crowds and the American crowds.I have been there.I dont know if the Earls Court audience were better than the NYC audience that I saw from Radiohead. Both were very loud and into it.I guess I might give the nod to the Earls Court shows.I know this is about U2,and not Bruce or Radiohead, but we are talking about the audience.I have been lucky enough to see shows in Europe and America.I depends on who you see.

They can film a couple of shows,as they did for Elevation. They released the Slane show 2 years after it was filmed.I think U2 can afford to film many shows, edit and release the best one. They played Dublin for 3 nights,Wembley for 2,Chicago for 2,NJ for 2.Film the shows..and release the best one.I agree the band would have to play more than one night in that city.

this topic is to do with the U2 audience. If you havent saw U2 in Europe and i havent saw them in America then we are both equal in our opinions. All those other gigs are irrelevant in this topic

I agree.I seem to always go back and play the Milan show from 07.07.09.The audience sound wild,I can only imagine what it was like to be there. They should have also released the WHOLE Milan show from Vertigo, not just 10 songs.
  9. I've just talked to a friend of mine who worked in the US during the summer and went to both Boston shows. His conclusion: the audience was lame.
  10. These discussions will never end. I cannot judge because I only went to one european show. To me the American crowds look or sound lame (according to the dvd's, other vids and boots). Cannot say the audiences are lame indeed....
  11. This topic starts to get lame lol

So since your friend said that,I guess that is fact.Um,dont think so guy.Im sure the 80,000 fans from each night were great.Maybe your friend is lame??But Im not going to argue with a 15 year old.lol
