1. Ok guys. I just got back from work. What did I miss?

  2. Thanks for that.

I'm sure I'll like it. Although reading the last few pages of this thread was a little depressing.

And no ones saying they're not the best band in the world anymore.
It's just that I couldn't call that show a performance by the best band in the world.

And I can guarantee if they release this as a DVD it will not be the same as the webcast last night. They're not going to put raw YouTube footage on a disc then sell it.

So you cannot (yet) compare this to any of the other releases you mention.

Therefore, this is the first ever U2 live broadcast (certainly for mass consumption) and there is nothing else to compare it to.

They gave it a go and good on them for that. If the performace was sub-par for the tour, that's shame and, Chris, I agree it's ok to be disappointed. But not the vitriol and penny-picking dismissal of the minuteae that I've read on these pages. That's ridiculous in my opinion.

  4. They made a few mistakes by all accounts. This is U2, I thought we were used to that by now.

I think we should make a post saying if you want to stay in a happy place, don't, for the love of God, read this thread.

  5. It isnt bad, but its like you know Leeds kicks ass, but you found out they recorded Mexico. Point is it is hard to peak on the right moment. This was planned months ago and unfortunately it was not their best (but still good) 360 show. But we can't expect the band to be better every night.

Mexico is a great DVD, Leeds would have been better. Sydney was amazing, but I rather would have an earlier ZooTV show. Vertigo was more than OK but most would have wanted another show. The point is, they have to shoot the DVD and the band did its best. We are all spoiled

    LOL!

I'm one of those fans who likes even Boston and Chicago. Two DVDs that are often pilloried on this site. IMO their worst is still shit hot!
  7. Is the show available on Youtube? What did I miss?

I like them as well. And yes we've only seen footage produced within seconds on youtube. The producer doesnt know exactly what each camera's sees at any moment in time and had to improvise. I am sure we will get more killer shots from the claw and of the band on the real dvd. Also the sound was bad on youtube, most likely that has a big effect on most peoples opinion.
  9. lossless capture (somehow) of the audio now up on u2torrents
  10. I think alot of people here should just wait for the proper dvd to come out, to watch it in HD, in glorious dolby digital 5.1 sound, on the 50" plasma's than a web broadcast with poor quality pictures & sound, no crowd noise what so ever, to make too many judgement calls.

alot of the camera angles didn't seem that great as well, which also takes away a bit from the overall performances, so i'm sure there will be some editing involved.

Make no mistake, i'll be lining up to grab this on the day of release like any U2 release, but them, i'm a hardcore fan from waaaaaaay back!
