1. Oh yes. I love it. Pity they didn't leave the title as Seibu, it sounds much prettier in Japanese.

based on what i've read in the neil mccormick book, this kind of music isn't U2 territory by any means (particularly noting the cautiousness of Larry and Adam), and one might argue that they already explored this kind of direction with "Passengers OS1" and Edge's "Captive". but U2 can seal its influence on another generation of popular music if it pushes the envelope in the studio a bit, not trying to constantly re-brand this current "back to basics" feel. if they don't, i fear their future tours will start looking like the rolling stones tours.

an interesting and complex album musically could fuel a very good arena or auditorium tour. forget stadiums for a while.

i think a younger audience that now grabs the complexity of pink floyd and radiohead and sustains the popularity of their records for years can accept new territory for U2.

this is my hope for "songs of ascent" and perhaps another future release.

  3. Is this a new song from Songs of Ascent????
    I like it anyway

  4. No mate, that is a song that was the last song to be cut from the HTDAAB album. It was leaked onto the internet in 2004. It may be put on the next album or it may be finished off and put on, or it may be left off altogther.

Someone cleverly pointed out that Breathe may be Mercy that had bee changed.

The story goes that Bono gave a fan a copy of HTDAAB which included Mercy and all of the other tracks. This is what I read somewhere anyway.

It is an incredible song, I love it and I wish they would release it properly and play it live
  5. A member of Intereference and so they ripped it in top quality 128kbps WMA. The funny thing is Bono is confused as to how it leaked.

I thought Breathe is Mercy and that might have been me. Compare and note the similarities. Too many...so when Larry or Edge says they will play Mercy they are, just not obvious to most.
  6. Mercy became Breathe? Never thought of that actually. Like the demo though, shouldve made it.

Mercy ==> Breathe? Really? I don't buy it
  8. Breathe is definitely not Mercy. It was written by Bono in 2008 and they are quite different in style. If anything Disappearing Act is the closest their new stuff is to Mercy.

Only thing is that Dissapearing Act was written 20 years ago...

Dont hear the similarities between Mercy and Breathe, I think Magnificent would come closer.
    But hey, it might be

Yes but the vocals are brand new

  11. Music is more than vocals lol
Mercy doesnt have anything to do with Dissapearing Act whatsoever

  12. I never said it did, it just has a similar feel to Mercy.
