1. So does anyone think SOA won't be delayed and will actually launch in early 2010?
  2. Brian Hiatt from Rolling Stone just tweeted that he'd been talking to Edge and 'Kingdom of Your Love' is a 'potential Songs of Ascent' inclusion.
  3. Follow-up to the above: "Songs of Ascent remains an idea more than an actual album at this point, a subject of debate within the band. No release plans yet" : Brian Hiatt

I can feel it slipping away as I write.

Apparently there's a mention of this in the interview they did for the next issue of Rolling Stone.
  4. pff they just have to release some new stuff before going on tour next year. they cant play another full tour with the same set

  5. It didn't become Breathe but the whole musical arrangement is dead similar. The beginning, the guitar tones, the very strong vocals as an idea - it's all there. You can't tell me they didn't get the inspiration for the sound of Breathe from Mercy. Same as some here were dead-set on believing White As Snow was Winter, because they came from the same sessions and both carried the theme of snow and winter.

I'd be more than disappointed if they put a previously-leaked track from 2003 - 2004 on a release for 2010 just cleaned up. That would show pure laziness. If they kept the title but made something totally-different sounding yet using the same inspirations that would be OK. But exactly as is...no way. Nobody would care for it.

Not necessarily. There is still time for 2009 to record an EP but if they want a high-quality release, work on the songs, don't overdo them and have it ready for the first quarter of the year. That can be done and it wouldn't look like U2 are primarily trying to cash in on what could be crap songs.

You can make things unheard sound good in words, but when push comes to shove it could be shit.

Absolutely. Let's hope they get something out by the Spring. They certainly have material, and they have some time to work on it. I think they may not want to repeat the NLOTH commercial flop, and that they want to get out something perfect, as always. Perfect yes, but not too perfect. Let's hope, and let's see.

In other words; we might get a single (Kingdom, with maybe Every Breaking Wave), but no album

Thats how I get this at least...

They boys seem to be running out of (successful) singles, I'm not sure they'd use a good tune for a non-album realize - but maybe they will. Let's hope we get at least an EP...

Another Ratlle And Hum type record maybe? With some live recordings from the 360 shows as well as some new songs. I can see it kicking off with Kingdom in full.

Honestly, I'd be shocked if we even got that, particularly before the end of next year.

  11. I'm becoming more pessimistic every day

any news about the Vancouver studio yet?
  12. NLOTH just came out and you guys are already anticipating the next album? I know they said they'd be releasing one, but I'm not going to let that distract me from NLOTH any bit. And I agree with the fact that the next album NEEDS a commercially successful hit. I'm glad they realized they made that mistake with the last album, so they better step it up for the next one, whether it's in the spring or 3 years from now. Zooropa didn't really have a big hit, but it was more less riding the success of Achtung Baby (there's nothign wrong with that, it's a great album) but this new album that's supposed to be a sort of continuation of NLOTH can't do the same, because NLOTH didn't have all that much success. I don't think U2 will be sweeping the grammy's like they usually do, i'll be really surprised if they do. The next album needs to be better than NLOTH.
