1. I also much prefer the bastardized versions of One and magnificent. Dull songs shortened equals improvement.

  2. A prime example of listening to too much U2. You'd better calm down. You've been on the screen flickering too long.

  3. This was the first I've watched since the webcast and that was the first live stuff I've watched since the last Dublin show. I like variation in songs that are bland. I got that variation with the shortened versions and the jay z cameo.
  4. Does anyone need the mp3 audio rip of SBS? I did it for myself, but I don't mind sharing.

  5. I'm sorry but there's nothing dull about these two songs. One is the song that made me a U2 fan and still their greatest tune, IMO, or at least on of their greatest tunes. I got goosebumps when I heard it yesterday and cried when I heard it played live at the shows I went to. I think the version they played in Berlin was one of the strongest in a long time. The band, Bono especially, were very much into it and obviously moved by the occasion.

I think, some fans are so spoilt now that they cannot appreciate U2's iconic tunes anymore. Songs like One have made U2 the band they are today. Without that song, they probably wouldn't have played at the Brandenburg Gate yesterday.

And Magnificent is the most U2ish song on No Line, a song that never fails to lift my spirits. I understand U2 had to follow time restrictions by the organisers of this event, but I'd rather they played these songs in full instead of Vertigo. But I understand they needed some stuff for casual fans, also to wam them up on a cold day. My friends who were there said most people in the audience weren't U2 fans and just like to listen to their music and they were most pleased with SBS, Beautiful Day and Vertigo, because the atmosphere went up with these tunes. Still, a shame they had to cut some songs short.

Props to U2 for playing Moment of Surrender, though. Beautiful version.

  6. Sunday Bloody Sunday for a b-side please

  7. That would be amazing. Though I'd like to see it released as a charity single or something.
  8. One and Magnificent in 720P quality on the showpages. Just type 'Berlin' in the quicksearch, click on 2009-11-05 - Berlin and you will find it on the video tab if you click Videobootlegs on the right.
  9. Just back from Berlin. It was amazing. Full report later on.
  10. Allright, a short one first.

There wasnt a reall 'wall' actually. If you didnt had a ticket you could still see and hear the gig. One and Magnificent were pretty short but good. Sunday Bloody Sunday was really epic with Jay-Z. Vertigo was brilliant too, really rocking. Bono added a brief The Fly snippet during the solo ('Achtung, Baby!). Edge made a little mistake during Beautiful Day, he missed the first chorus.

Moment of Surrender was great too, pouring version. Of course they had to play it. I expected to hear Stay too though, since they rehearsed it. They also rehearsed Desire. The audience was far from good, but the sound of the gig was great. Not that loud, but very clear.

Really Ger come on. One a dull song? Im very sure 90% of this forum (myself including) is spoilt.

  12. It's been dull since 1992/3. The song itself (album version) cannot be faulted but it's a workhorse song. They can't get much into it nowadays. Just like WOWY
