1. Than what? MoS? Cos its more varied and less sparsely instrumented.

  2. Some of the lyrics would appear odd at first. ''Restart, reboot yourself...'' MoS has them too ''the ATM machine'', but not nearly as many.

Yes, but MoS is much duller (doesn't even have a guitar line) and will be drowned out on radio when its played alongside the usual loud, upbeat mainstream stuff. (unless of course they radically change the single mix)

Not if they play that horrible remix. But yeah, it would be ignored on radio - which is a real shame. The mediocre U2 stuff was loved (Elevation, Beautiful Day, Stuck, All Because of You) but the stuff which is actually close to brilliance doesn't even get a look-in!

However, we can be assured of one thing: it's not overplayed!

With Or Without You was a hit
All I Want Is You was a hit
    One was a hit
Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own was a hit

I dont see why MOS wouldnt have the ability to become a hit?
tbh I dont expect it either, but MOS isnt dull at all...
It's tons better than Unknown Caller.

The single mix will just have the intro and the outro cut out, maybe even also the solo.

Beautiful Day isn't mediocre, the rest yes.
The problem is they haven't managed to write a single as strong as BD or even Vertigo this time around

Well, it is very sparse and ambient on the album, it was recorded in one take and the lack of polish shows.

And Unknown Caller is far more varied and dynamic musically

If they add the guitar line and Bono's more melodic (less strained) singing from the live versions then it should do fine. But how the hell are they going to get it to 5 minutes.
They'll chop off the long outro string of 'ohhhs' but how much would that get us to?

The intro isnt really all that long either, so are they going to have no intro? Begin with the 'ohh's like they do live?

Someone should see how much can be cut from MoS and what running time we're left with

I can see it being a hit. I'd also like to see a new single mix, complete with Bono's "rap".

The end 'oh-oh-oh' part can be shortened which brings us to about six minutes and so can the beginning ones, or at least include less of them, which would bring us back to about five minutes. Would any of the verses do well cut out to get it down to four minutes?

They could cut some of the first verse, (hopefully the ATM machine line gets the chop as well).

I think they'll try for around 4 1/2 minutes like One, WOWY etc.

Four and a half is fine, but try getting a five minute song on the radio - it wouldn't happen, not at least here.
