The Zoo-versions were cool, but Bono sang the song too "easy". I know, it sounds rather dull to name it like this, since it was rather brilliant, but nowadays he puts in more high notes and dares to really sing the song, instead of speaking out the lyrics. Just my opinion tough....

He might sing it more dramatically, but it doesn't suit the song as much as the speaking style used on the album or ZooTV.
I guess I wouldn't mind the way he shouts out the second verse if he could actually sing the chorus, its a bit silly to shout out the verse and then have to whisper the chorus.

And that brilliant chorus riff sounded better in ZooTV performances too, maybe due to Edge playing on the Explorer instead of the Strat.

I actually think this is why it sounds better on 360°...the Explorer just didn't give him a HUGE enough sound to support what the song can really turn into, and on 360°, his guitar really just fills the entire space of the stadiums in the opening (and throughout the entire rest) of the song.
  4. some zoo tv versions are epic like the really early versions where edge just plays the intro solo for one loop and then the bass and drums kick in. overall 360 is just a smasher.

they are pretty good...Bono kinda fucks up a bit with the intro, but it's forgivable.
  6. Well I like the Zoo versions more. One of the reasons is that the B-man uses the f-word sometimes. To me he put more emotions in the performances back then. Still the 360 renditions are great
  7. Great song no matter what tour period. Starts off the best closing 3 songs on any album ever made ever

I thought the chorus guitar riff was much clearer on most ZooTV recordings? It seems a bit muted on 360.

But any difference is probably due to the massive advances in technology since the 90s.
360 tour recordings should sound better.

  9. That's actually true. The hard-die fans like us use to dislike the 360 encore because it's short and it hasn't been changed in the whole tour; but if you look at JUST the encore, UV+WOWY+MOS is probably the best encore they ever have done, it's simply amazing
