    One of the reasons. American history classes are a joke. Most everything I know, I've had to look up myself. We learn virtually no foreign history, and a way watered-down/censored version of American history, which tends to focus on the bad parts.

    All censoring history does, is make it less intresting. Also, you know its bad, when you find factual inacuracies in your textbook.

    Funny. I read that they also decoded Japanese messages three days before Pearl Harbour but let things happen anyway so they could have a reason to enter the war.

    they could have entered the war in 1939 if they wanted to, and helped UK, but after WWI they had some European Neutrality agreement in place so they wouldnt get dragged into another war...the japs bombing them changed all that.

    Seriously. America has given more aid to Haiti, than any other country. Although, I have always been proud of my country, in light of our response too this disaster, I'm even more proud. Chavez is complaining, about the fact that much of the aid is military in nature. Thats because, we cant start doing real work until we secure the country. The amount of rioting, and looting there is supposed to be astronomical. Also, we aint just sending combat troops. Where also sending medical units, including one of the U.S. Navys hospital ships. What has Chavez sent? Nothing, absoulutly nothing. My only complaint, is Obama's responses too Fort Hood, and the Christmas day attacks weren't as resolute.

    Also, the Army has released its official report on Fort Hood. No mater how you look at it, polictical corectness is to blame. They where afraid that if they wrote him up, they'ed be accused of racism.

    Thats an urban legend, to the best of my knowledge. What did happen that I know of, was before the main attack happened, the destroyer U.S.S. Ward, found and destroyed one of the midget subs that was supposed to take part in the attack. In addition, a radar center, picked up the formation, but thought it was B-17s in from California.

    In any case, various hypothetical studies have shown, that the fleet actually took less damage than they would have, if they had been warned about the attack, and taken to sea. Since the ships sunk in shallow water, many where raised, and put back in service, and many of the survivors managed to swim to shore.

    The biggest mistake though goes to the Japanese. There intel failed, and not a single American aircraft carrier was in port at the time of the attack (although the Enterprise was a few hours out).
