1. I think they should open the final encore with Streets...they haven't done that in a while - or ever come to think of it. Therefore they can have the longer intro where the crowd gets all revved up when they see the red screens and hear the keyboard playing.

What does all the red mean anyhow?

  3. They just started doing it on the JT tour, and it for some reason never stopped. It became that song's "thing"

And I agree with opening the encore with it, great idea. Can't believe it's never been done before.

Except for the Elevation and Vertigo Tour.

Besides, I think it's also just that visual signature thing, especially for ppl who also saw it during the Joshua Tree Tour.

And for the others I guess the main thing is that intro anway...those moments where you know what awesomeness is about to happen. And the full (red) colour screen works better than, for example, the flags of the countroes during the Vertigo Tour.

To keep it short: I don't think there's a deeper meaning behind it. Is there ?
  5. The only issue with having Streets starting an encore (and I'm the one who started this part of the topic) is that there have been so many great segues from another song (e.g. Running to Stand Still, Plese, Bad, All I Want Is You, Walk On, One,...) into Streets.

i think they should try using it as a closer
they could come up with an awesome segue between MOS and streets

On the Elevation Tour, the rising lights that occasionally came up behind Larry (most visible on the Boston DVD during "The Fly") started rising as Edge played the intro, and they were all red.

Vertigo Tour, the lights surrounding the stage and all the backlights were red as they scrolled the flags- not as dominant, but they definitely still used it.

And yeah, that's what I mean- its a visual signature. No deeper meaning. It's just the call to the U2 fans who know whats up that something big is about to happen

the lights for streets on the boston dvd were awesome (the rolling ones behind larry right?) they should bring those back, it seems like seeing that live would have been amazing
i didn't notice they were red though

Not the rolling lights, there were lights that rose up and down behind Larry. They're the ones that strobe red/green/all-different-colors during "The Fly". You'll notice in other songs, they aren't even there...it's because they raise and lower. Also, they're incredibly visible on YouTube videos of "Mysterious Ways"; they raise AND lower in the song during the intro.

Those are the lights that were red during Streets. They rose up during the intro, lit red.

  10. I think everyone would leave the concert happy if the band ended the show with Streets. It would also throw a lot of people off during the show. We might start thinking that they were going to omit it from the set list altogether... but then after MoS...the stage goes red...the keyboards start...you know the rest...pure elation.

exactly, someone on here was saying they should try to end the concerts with a bang (i'm not sure if it was in this topic) and someone else was saying that they don't really have any songs they could do that with, but streets would be perfect
it's usually the highlight of the concert for most people and it's just such an incredible moment in every show. and if they did it with the full intro after MOS and just were building up to it thoughout the whole show (because everyone knows they'll play it at some point) i think the place would just explode
    everyone would walk away happy

have they ever even tried ending with it?
it seems like a pretty obvious choice to me
