1. Not an expert, but in a football stadium surrounded by 70,000 people and nothing above you but the open air for about 150 yards, "sharp and strong" unfortunately go out the window.

Been awhile since we've had a "spectacle" of a U2 DVD, with the past few DVDs being filmed in arenas. Funny how even though even though Vertigo had a show in Milan on DVD, in a stadium, and Slane Castle was in front of a MASSIVE crowd, they still shrunk the show into such an intimate, personal, touching experience. This will be way more along the lines of ZooTV and PopMart obviously, with a grand presentation of a show complimenting the music. Should be interesting to see them do that in this decade in stunning 1080p HD.
  2. Venue doesnt really mind. They could just pick the direct soundboard mix, mix in some random input from the audience microphones. Which i think they do

I just meant in terms of live performance- I've always thought the drumming on the Slane DVD was incredible, though I'm sure if you were deep in the crowd, it wasn't phenomenal. You can't have 100% perfect sound everywhere when it's live- even though Joe O'Herlihy claims to have revolutionized live sound with the 360° arrangement.

I'm sure the drumming (along with the 3+ other instruments on the tracks) will be heard crystal clear and fine on the DVD.
  4. Sorry my fault, thought it was still about Breathe being cut from the DVD. But it was about Larry's sound live.

Yep. I think they cut "Breathe" because they're going to be opening leg 3 shows with "Get On Your Boots", personally. Even though The Edge said they're going to have to change things up because they can't put on the exact same show they're showing people on DVD, if the DVD is hopefully going to inspire some people to get tickets, perhaps they're going to be giving those people what they WANT by opening with GOYB.

I agree. It would probably be weird for some people if the DVD opened with Breathe but the Tour itself was different. Personally I think they should have kept it on there but oh well.

I never actually thought about that. Well said!

I appreciate what you are saying but do we really think the band/promoters put THAT much thought into it? If they do, I think they are over-thinking their marketing strategies and should invest their energy elsewhere...like a new album.

I'm thinking that Breathe may be dropped as the opener as well. I've read comments from the band saying they were disappointed with the lack of response from Breathe, so I wondered if this was why.

Absolutely; it makes sense to do it this way.

AND i hope you'll have a great watch, as there in Brazil you didn't have the chance to see a 360°-show (and i did) you deserve it

I wish I could tape it, but it won't be possible...

But I'll be here just after watch it for sure
  12. Let's judge this stuff when I saw it. I think the creative boys over at U2 will cover-up most flaws anyway. Everything you know is wrong or Everything you see and hear never really happened
