I think "Walk On" was a clear inspiration on the Elevation Tour, once 9/11 had happened and people began using the song as an anthem of hope and survival throughout America, and in turn, the rest of the world as they supported us through that tragic time...it was almost like the sigh of relief and the release of all emotions- joy and tears- at the end of a U2 show...and now, it's like..."Whoa...you're really tackling THAT one again?"
Sort of like how Elton John "retired" 'Candle in the Wind', saying he'd never play it again because he didn't want it to lose its meaning (I dont follow EJ's setlists enough to know whether he held true to this or not)...it just seems like maybe that's something U2 should have done with that song.
Walk On was amazing on Elevation and the displays on the screens really worked well. After that though....
On Candle In The Wind, EJ won't play the specific version of CITW he played at Diana's funeral because he felt that it was too sentimental to have those changed lyrics, only he'll play the regular CITW version and only if the family asks for it again.
