1. bit confused though. four5one always did the graphic design for u2. now it seems amp visual took over, but on their site it looks like they also made the earlier stuff. is four5one now amp visual?
  2. The Unforgettable Fire is becoming my favourite track of the DVD. Still hasn't topped Ultra Violet, though.
  3. Special broadcast of the Pasadena show going over spanish Canal + right now. I'm recording it, of course. I don't know which songs will be included, but so far we've had Intro + GOYB + Magnificent + Elevation + The Unforgettable Fire.

It looks absolutely astonishing in my 35'' TV, I have to admit that.
  4. whats larry saying during streets? any lip readers? lol
  5. I don't post here often and I'm not exactly a "hardcore" U2 fan, but I've been to a show on every tour since 1987 and I bought the DVD on the first day it came out. I've seen it a few times now. I saw the 2nd Toronto show on this tour as well.

I haven't read this entire thread, but I have read enough to know that I'll be in the drastic minority in saying that I think the 2005 Chicago DVD is absolutely fantastic. I gather that many of the negative comments here are about the "editing" and/or visual style of it. It didn't bother me at all. It was fine. U2 360 is about the same, quite frankly.

    Song by song on 360:

    1. Get On Your Boots. Not a favorite song of mine and the performance here is fine. I have only watched this once. I have skipped it on repeat viewings.

    2. Magnficient. Great. Superbly performed.

    3. Mysterious Ways. A fairly average performance on this one; but Edge sounds tremendous, as he always does on this song.

    4. Beautiful Day. Fantastic. Love the way this ends.

    5. I Still Haven't Found... One of the highlights of the show; crowd sounds great and the Stand By Me ending is powerful stuff.

    6. Stuck In A Moment. Another great performance; Bono and Edge deliver beautiful vocals throughout.

    7. No Line. A fine performance of the song; not easy to play live in the first place.

    8. Elevation. This is a good live song for crowd and band energy (here and on all previous live show DVDs where it appears).

    9. In A Little While. Nice song and very well-performed here; the space station stuff works nicely.

    10. Unknown Caller. My personal favorite song from the 360 show I attended, and it's brilliant here too. The chorus of voices; Edge's guitar; the extended ending. Greatness.

    11. Until The End... A fine performance of a great song.

    12. The Unforgettable Fire. A tough song to pull off live, but it's very good here. It sounds better each time I hear it.

    13. City of Blinding Lights. Tremendous song, but not nearly as good here as it was on the Chicago DVD (where it was brilliant). It's unfortunately marred on the DVD by a dual-layer change as well.

    14. Vertigo. High-energy stuff; very good.

    15. I'll Go Crazy. The brilliant live arrangement of this song is something else; tremendous.

    16. Sunday Bloody Sunday. A fine performance; the song has lost much of its intensity over the years, but it's still great to hear.

    17. MLK. Very good.

    18. Walk On. One of the weakest performances on the DVD. I've yet to see a proper live version of this song; it just sounds awkward. The last half of it has emotional resonance here, however.

    19. One. A very good performance of One.

    20. Streets. Always a tremendous song to hear live. It's great here again. However, this is not my favorite version of Streets on DVD; the version from Chicago is better and Boston 2001 remains extraordinary, amongst others.

    21. Ultra Violet. Shot with a lot of odd edits (which makes it dizzying), but the performance is what matters and it's fantastic. Great, great song.

    22. With or Without You. Performed particularly well this time.

    23. Moment of Surrender. A fine performance, if somewhat short for a closing number.

This DVD captures the tour quite well. This is a tour in which Bono and the boys have a very set structure for the show and the crowd is largely an abstraction (as it certainly is on this DVD). What's important are the songs and the performances; and they are top-notch.
  6. Oh, yes, the audience sounds "great" on ISHFWILF..........
  7. just watched the concert for the 1st time. i really really liked it some really nice shots of the claw and crowd. now im all excited again, it was the U2 shot i needed
  8. My blu-ray copy arrived yesterday. I've only had a brief look at a few songs. I can definitely see what some people are saying about the video quality and audio in places. It seems like either they have added deliberate grain to the video to make it look more like film or they have screwed around too much with the brightness and contrast levels. The audio seems like they have mixed Bono's voice too high in the mix at times and is it just me or does it sound 'too clean' at times?

More when I finally get round to watching it properly.
