    And I've received it at the same time as I was reading the final's referee saying that he doesn't regret any of the decissions he made in the match, and thinks that all of them were fair. Fucking bastard. 2 centimeters at the right or at the left and Xabi Alonso would have 4 broken ribs and probably an injured lung. "Fair" yellow card? Fuck offffff...

  4. True, de Jong deserved a red card for that charge...however, 9 out of 10 doubtfull decisions were against us...anyway in the end Spain deserved the win, period.

    Definitely deserved a red, but....you won the World Cup! Shouldn't really matter anymore, right? To paraphrase the B-man, "Fuck the past, embrace the future (or present in this case)."

    You have no idea what Webb saw, he might not have been in a position to see the full impact of the challenge. Also, yes it was reckless, but whose to say whether Jong intended the challenge to go like that?

    De Jong always has been an idiot, even more then Van Bommel. Everyone in holland was surprised that neither of them got a red card or two this cup.

    Oh don't get me wrong, I don't mean to sound like I'm condoning the challenge, but I think you do have to bear in mind intention aswell as anything, e.g. Martin Taylor/Eduardo a few years back - Taylor did not mean to damage Eduardo at all, that was made very clear, it was a mistimed tackle that unfortunately ended up awfully for Eduardo. I think the same applied with the Ryan Shawcross/Aaron Ramsey tackle last season, but this is a WC-related thread so I shouldn't really dwell on those incidents too much.

    This all said, I do agree that it should have been a red card much the same as Taylor and Shawcross for recklessness BUT a) like I say, people shouldn't be too judgemental without knowing the presence/lack of intention and b) the ref. only sees what he sees, and I don't know if he was in a position to see the full force of the challenge. The important factor is that Xabi Alonso came out of the challenge without too much damage which I'm very glad about. That said, if Webb did see the challenge in full view then he had no excuse for getting it wrong, but remember people make mistakes - I think on the whole he had a good game. The only things of surprise for me were, like you say, that Holland still had 11 on the pitch at half time lol, and also that Iniesta wasn't given a thump for telling Webb to give him the 2nd yellow - yes, Iniesta's a quality player but on that basis he's a complete tosser lol. Anyway, we live and learn, as they say. My general feeling is that footballers need to wake up and sharpen up their image pronto. So do FIFA, actually...
