1. Wow, what a song...what a song. Do you write music? Any way to record it? That needs actualized.

    Bravo

  2. If you're referring to me, yes I do.
If you follow the link beneath my Avatar you'll find some of my music
  3. Here is an extremely rough version of "Invader." The vocals and ending are horrible, I'd like to re-record both tomorrow or some other time. I was pleased with how everything else came out, but it could not be more obvious that it's my first time and done with a free program. The main drum loop is from my keyboard, but it's dangerously close to the "Fez" beat. The ending drum loop I created in Guitar Pro. Also, this would be a lot better with a live drummer.

If you listen, I would suggest reading along with the lyrics, that was you can actually make out what I'm singing:
    ----
    Blinded invader
    Strange and crooked stranger
    Without a saint or savior
All started with love, what we were made for

We could mend the seems, and bend the dreams
We could end the schemes, to blind extremes

    As polar emotions collide
    Soul transcends our minds
When heart proves to be corrupt, blame the invader

    Don’t you stop, the preaching
    You’re official impeaching
    The damned and darkened reaching
    The brilliance of your dreaming

We could mend the seems, and bend the dreams
We could end the schemes, to blind extremes

    As polar emotions collide
    Soul transcends our minds
When heart proves to be corrupt, blame the invader

Also, here is that Keyboard thing Matt. It turned out to be a lot less than what I imagined it to be, so this might be a complete waste of time. But, here are the voice numbers in case you actually come across anything you like:

    558, 560, 562, 563, 570, 571, 616, 618, 652, 654, 656, 657, 664, 665, 666 , 668, 673, 674, 684, 685, 686, 687, 688, 699

Again, this might be a complete waste of time.

More great stuff Cal! "Now can we dream in HD, we live in stereo."

By the way, I saw on Facebook that you're recording an album in L.A.?

Yes sir, and I'll be in NY next year too. Which means a little jam between contemporary's like ourselves is in order.

  6. I cannot even begin to imagine what would happen if we actually got together. Big, BIG kudos on the album too, I really can't wait!

Just out of curiosity... how did you go about getting a "deal?" I know all of the stories, but this is an excellent opportunity for me to actually ask someone.
  7. Here is an updated version of Invader.... vocals are slightly clearer and the ending is in sync. For some reason, my mic cuts out certain sounds (you'll notice "s" sounds are the worst) so some words are still unclear, unfortunately. Also, every now and then, something will be ever so slightly off beat, but that was extremely hard to fix on my relatively slow computer.

  8. Nick-

Thank you for the keyboard demos! That first sound actually is pretty cool...could you maybe give me like, 30 seconds of a straight "B" on that? You can throw the whole chord in at times, play around with it, make it sound cool, whatever- but the song really needs more of a bassy vibe, and thats got it for sure. I'm so happy you decided to do that for me, you really are awesome!!!!

I was initially looking for almost like a "teardroppy" type of sound, with a harsh high end and some resonance that I could use when the guitars cut out for a few seconds and you're left with just the voices, but I couldn't really get that out of my old synth. It's not really a synth, anyway, just an ol' electric piano with some various sounds built into it.

Downloading the Invader update as we speak
  9. NICK THIS IS INCREDIBLE

Update: On my iPod, and been added to my illustrious "Night Music" playlist- 66 songs meant to advocate depth and darkness, that constantly lull me to sleep or accompany my driving if it's dark out. Half of them are mellow, gentle, beautiful tunes that sound better without the sun. The other 33 are twisted, strange, but still somehow beautiful- sometimes scary- songs that belong in the middle of the night. I bumped one for Invader.

    That's a fucking big deal.

No problem. Here is what I put together:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?968nreb1pnt8j4g

I kept it on the lower side of the keyboard for a bassy feel, and since I wasn't sure exactly where you wanted to go with it, I stuck with a neutral chord (being neither major or minor, I left out the middle note so it can be used in either scale). I didn't time myself, and it ended up being over a minute long, but that will at least give you a chance to take the best 30 or so seconds from that.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I got the same feeling.

    Jeepers, thanks

I'm honored, in one day I've made it onto two iPods (yours and my friend Aaron's). To know that I've bumped a "professional" leaves me with the warmest of feelings inside.

Really thanks, I was seriously doubting it before.
  11. Nick, that's really good. Again, I'm extremely impressed very mesmeric and eery. Wish I could put together something that sounded as polished, unfortunately I am lacking in any kind of decent recording equipment and lack money at this moment in time lol.

    In other news, I've been rummaging through my hard drive and sorting out all the random snippets and ideas I've come up with over the last couple of years, and found this;

    Everything's Changed

It seems to be all taking shape
The way things are gonna be
And no matter how hard I try
I can't escape this tragic dismay
That for all the good I could achieve
    An act of hate
    Can undo my reprieve

In the beginning, there was nothing
For me to cling to, that
Meant much to you or me
But now it seems I'm wide awake
If only I could turn back time
I wish things had been different
    A worthwhile destiny

    Everything's beyond my control
But I want to change the world
The song that's stuck in my throat
I don't wanna let it get away
But perhaps there's nothing left to
Cling to but some false begotten hope
    And casual throwaways

    These words aren't mine alone
This is no melodrama in motion
    Everything's changed and I can't see
A way out of the gloom, the misery
To hell with your makeup, your false identity
    We're different enough
    Why make a symphony?

There's no God who'll send his angels
No divinity whose hand will save
It's just you and me, sadly
But are we friend or enemy?
I long for peace, some resolution
    But you'd rather have
    Your fucking revolution

Possibly the angriest thing I've ever written and I can't work out what the hell I was writing about all I know is I must have been pissed off 'cause I don't usually use expletives in lyrics lol. On the upside, it proves to me I can write a lengthy-ish lyric, not sure it makes sense mind. I'm thinking of trying to come up with an instrumentation for it, aswell as editing it somehow. Gold stars to the first to spot the obvious U2 references though lol.

Thanks Harry! Actually... if you have a keyboard / mic and a usb cord, you can. I used Audacity to record.

As for the song... that too is pretty good. I can picture some bombastic guitar (something Bullet-esque) for it. For the vocals; some sort of effect, like a telephone or something. It could be a big production. I seriously suggest working on it

I've bolded all of the U2 references that I've noticed.
