The fact that it was available at retail does not make it official. I bought mine in a retail shop as well.

Neither the box nor the insert have any label markings or copyright info. I've never seen any real evidence of this being an official release.

Thanks to you all. It's very hard to find any information about it. I just found another 2 boxes on the internet: http://www.amazon.com/U2-Singles-Collection-1981-1989/dp/B000U3B16O but that price is really high. I'll ask the guy tomorrow if he knows something more about it.

CDs are official, box is made for German FNAC

Yep. It's a really nice box. Just came home with it. Box and CD's are in perfect condition.
