1. Talking about the 360 tour, I'm still trying to decide if I should go to Rome or Paris.

Paris is easier to get to, so cheaper flights, but I can't find a ticket - everytime I find somewhere it's excluding Tax, the website fee and they think they can rip you off with £30 delivery!?! .
Whereas Rome is more expensive flights and takes longer to get to, but will give me longer to save £ anyway....

  2. Don't you miss when he roared?
  3. I'm all settled in at the university for my fall semester...finally living away from home, on my own

    Sorry, little excited over here

  4. interesting. I spent a year on a high school in Wisconsin and pretty much everyone wanted to get away from their families ASAP. its clearly different here in europe. Teens do not really want to leave their friends and families. they just find a college which is close to their home...

  5. Is that a hint that the Drunk thread will be raging this first week of school?

  6. Great, Matt, I'm SO glad for you. Have fun, mate, and keep us informed (not in the Drunk Thread, though )..... Congrats, mate
  7. No worries, friends, no drunk thread for me just yet- we'll see what happens this week.

And yes, it can be a huge mixed bag of emotion I've found in the States (at least in Illinois)...everyone is very sad to see their friends go, but the realists (I'd like to think myself) realize that they'll be making more friends in college, and that even though their families are being left behind as well, the space and the responsibility not only gets you ready for your actual life away from the parents, it provides for a killer venue to have an amazing time.

    So I'm gonna enjoy it.
  8. That's great Matt, have a great time and take care of yourself. What are you going to study if I may ask?

  9. Communications/Advertising. I hope to get out there and be a people-person in the field someday, as opposed to sitting behind a desk from 9-5. I'm a much more socially comfortable person that I think would do well in something like this.

  10. Meh, I cant bring myself to swallow my pride, and get the governemnt assistance I need to pay for school. Also, has the added bonus of pissing off my mother (dont know if I've ever shared it with you guys, but me and my family hate each other).

I'm either gonna just find a job (easier said than done) and pay for it on my own, or join the service.

Hell, I've changed my mind about which I'm gonna do, 10 times in the next month. I've even considered swallowing my pride, and just going to college, but I like being self-reliant. and like I said, I dislike my family, so anything that pisses them off is a plus.
  11. Last night at Purdue (University I'm at), they showed Ferris Bueller's Day Off in one of the Performing Arts Centers, projected on a big screen on the stage. Over 1,000 kids packed into the seats, completely sold out...going off the walls, laughing their asses off, cheering for Ferris...it was remarkably fun!

And to contrast, during the Art Institute scene where Dream Academy's cover of "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" plays, and Cameron stares off into space at the painting depicting the picnic...and the camera shows a closer shot of the painting, and closer shot of his face, and goes back and forth, continually zooming...you can just see on Cameron's face that he doesn't really know where he's at in his life, and as they show each individual dot in the painting, it almost becomes perfectly clear that that's how Cameron feels- like one dot among millions in a painting.

And I swear, during the entirety of the scene, you could have heard a pin drop in the theater as over 1,000 brand new college kids instantly dropped the smiles off their faces, as their hearts beat a little bit faster, and silent fear set in as they wondered if they, too, should be worrying about the same thing.
