1. They just also messed EBW up yesterday, didn't know how to play it. It's that underrehearsed. No problem.

  2. Was thinking that myself, listened to EBW then the electric North Star and though they were pretty similar. More to do with the tone of the quitar and the effects etc.

EDIT: Just come to me, the start of Every Breaking Wave reminds me a hell of a lot of the intro for The Fly used on Elevation shows.

Yes i hear it to. Which in my opinion is a great thing.

  4. I really like the new songs... for me EBW<NS<Stingray>Glasto

I think they sounded alike cause they are under rehearsed and edge just played the chords with arpeggios and some licks and the guitar was with the same set up as ISHFWILF.... don´t think that that´s the guitar arrangement for them...

Exactly, i've said that before too, he's just playing it like he would acoustically (except he's using an electric guitar) the guitar will be completely different in the album version.

This is what the album version is supposed to sound like: (from Q and RS album previews of NLOTH):

A swelling soul-pop song, with bright synth sounds influenced by OMD and, Bono says, "early electronica." "You don't hear indie bands doing blue-eyed soul [like this]," he adds.

    Every Breaking Wave
Lillywhite cues up the track, a slow burning track called Every Breaking Wave that gradually builds to a climax brimming with passion and intensity. Bono begins to sing rocking forward and backwards on his studio chair…………he performs a note perfect vocal that employs the movement of the ocean as a
metaphor for the human struggle, before building to the plaintive line “I dont know if I’m that strong”. Two takes and 10 minutes later its done. Key line “Every Sailor knows that the Sea/Is a friend made enemy”

  6. this is pretty decent imo

  7. Now he's saying that he has 4 albums in his pocket.

  8. And two more in his hat.

Stingray needs something else after it (I Will Follow?). North Star is a lovely track the acoustic version of which I prefer over the electric one. Love the "Can't let go of this love of mine" bit added to Glastonbury. Every Breaking Way was not rehearsed enough. Obviously they have to have a finished version somewhere as it was supposed to be on the album but it sounded rather unfinished in Helsinki (again, probably because of lack of rehearsing). As for the version played in Helsinki, the "Hey now" part does not fit in the song, it disturbs the flow of it, builds up to something but doesn't go anywhere. Therefore it should be ditched if they want to keep playing it in the Bono+Edge-only way.
  9. when I think of soaring I think of the outro of Beautiful Day or the intro of No Line. But just listened to EBW, I quite like it. Will sound wayyy better on record.
  10. Every Breaking Wave : I've heard it for 25-30 times now already and i still really really it !
Imo it's some of the best they've released the last years...

Glastonbury : nice little rock-tune to hear once or twice live but it's not a keeper...

North Star : don't know yet. Think its got potential so i'm not going to throw it away already, but it hasn't really touched me (yet)

Return Of The Stingray Guitar : kinda refuse to call it a real full song... It's more like "Soon" : there should be something more

I don´t have a doubt, they will only ruin it if they really want to...
