1. Fuck, I wanted to see them live!! I'm sorry for them, for myself and for all the fans...

PS. What a strange thing, the fan commiting suicide in a show of theirs, etc... Reminds me a bit of Exit.

Folk rockers Swell Season's Thursday night, August 19 concert in Saratoga, California ended in tragedy when a concertgoer jumped to his death during the show.

Oscar winners Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, the stars of hit film "Once", and hundreds of their fans were left horrified as the unnamed man took his own life by diving from the roof of the venue to the stage below during the Mountain Winery concert.

Hansard had just finished performing a song and was talking to the crowd when the man jumped, falling three stories through lighting rigs. The Irish singer/songwriter promptly halted the show and walked over to the man on the stage while medics attempted to revive him.

A statement from Hansard and his band reads, "The band, crew and all involved with them are shocked and saddened by the unfortunate events of last night. Their hearts go out to the victim and his friends and family."

Local reports suggest the unidentified fan agreed to accompany a friend to the show but left his seat after the first song. The incident is being treated as an apparent suicide.

  3. Must have been a terrible concert
  4. Glen's twiter:

"If anyone is going to announce the end of The Swell Season it'll be us..
Forget what anyone else says.. Were not breaking up.."

  6. Im listening to 2005-03-30: San Diego, and my jaw just dropped as "With or Without You" followed "Beautiful Day" at the beginning of the set. Literally. Dropped.

I'm all for a setlist shakeup, but that's just too early.

First leg Vertigo's are a mess sometimes. They even played Vertigo after 40 in one show!!!!!

  8. I loved every bit of the set except for that. Zoo Station/The Fly coming before Pride/Streets, The main set ending with Elevation....new stuff to my ears. Sounded different, refreshing...
  9. Seeing Guns N Roses tonight in Dublin City
  10. Any Pearl Jam fans...

Beat Farm Radio, a music blog that I've been writing for for a long time, just let me post my top 25 U2 songs, and they're doing the same feature with another writer for the site, except his list focuses around Pearl Jam songs and why they're important to him.

The coolest thing about this for me, is that this guy loves Pearl Jam like I/we love U2, and I've read the insight into some of his list, and it's remarkable to pick out the details we hear in U2 in another band...really sort of broadens your appreciation for music as a whole, being able to use U2 as a basis for passion. Just thought I'd pass the link along, since I know there are several Pearl Jam fans around the boards.
