1. WTF is that guitar, and WHY didn't I know it?

  2. That purple guitar is the Music Rising guitar that was made for Edge's foundation to support musucians in New Orleans when they lost everything in the flood of hurricane katrina. I guess the look changes from guitar to guitar, I've seen some with green, some with yellow, and the purple Edge is using now.
  3. THanks for the info, Alex! It's a really gorgeous guitar and if it was custom made for The Edge, it surely sounds terrific
Does anyone know if he's used it live for any song yet?

By the way, now that you mention it: today is the sad 5th anniversary of the day hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.

One in Pasadena had an odd looking Les Paul, not to sure about the colour though, since One's lights are all blue

I saw Dallas soundchecking with this guitar for a while in Hannover.
Edge used it during New Year's day

  6. NYD played in a guitar that's not the cream Les Paul? Historic Thanks for the info, people!!

Does anybody know some presets or effects for Heartland? I use to be pretty good figuring them but I have trouble with this song - nothing seems to sound right. Of course there is the delay at the usual 3/16, but I have tried with some compression, some very slight distortion together with a pseudo-acoustic feeling, I have switched pickups, tried with humbs, singles, etc etc etc (a long etc) and nothing sounds good enough to my ears. Some tips, guys? Thaaaaaanks

The Edge has used other guitars for NYD. Edge used a Stratocaster for NYD for most of the 1980's.

As for not using it on this tour, he doesn't have that particular Les Paul Custom any longer, as it was auctioned 3 years ago in the Icons of Music Auction.

I'm surprised he's not using his "replacement" though. Supposedly it's pretty much a direct copy of his original LP, I mean obviously it's not a perfect copy, seeing how the parts in the new one are mainly new and not 30 years old, but according to Edge it gets really close. Even listening to it on boots it sounds very similar.
  9. It sounded scarily similar, according to Edge's words. The weight was exactly the same, the scratches, the pickups, the everything was the same. It's virtually the same guitar, so I won't be surprised if he decided to use it for the same songs he used the old one.
  10. The old, all black stratocaster was the original New Year's Day guitar right?
