  2. blegh, UV was just average. Batman is way better this leg.
  3. Vienna Experience

first of all, WHAT A CITY!!! Incredible buildings/culture, worth a visit..gig or not! We visited the Staatoper as well...quite a combination

went down to the stadium Sunday afternoon just to check things out, strange to see it so empty, quite different from Monday come 7pm.

Here's a sample of security.....how do you reckon your odds of getting to your seats with people sitting on them...holding IDENTICAL tickets...........????????????????????????

2 Ducties against 8 Tjechs was a no contest..so resorted to the stairs between blocks. Security did ask why we were sitting there, but once I explained the situation, he must have thought as well it would be too much trouble to sort it, so we could just remain there.

In Amsterdam 1 we were 100 yard from the stage..great first experience with with rather poor audio there it did seem more like watching a show, rather than being truly a part of it. In Wembley 1 we were up in the gods with suprisingly good sound. This time we were at the back of the stage in row 7. (For those who are wondering here, no GA, the misses does not want it).

    Two things struck me immensely:
    1) the shere size of the claw... there was something wrong with one of the leds and the guy on top just looked so small...unreal!
    2) The UNREAL volume, overpowering!

    The GIG:
    - Great evenly balanced nice stadium.
    - One Republic: rather nice surprise actually, quite some familiar tunes there...enjoyable.
    - I must say that I have enjoyed other shows more, but that had nothing to do with the lads, rather with my health. Had been dealing with flu, and being clogged up and feverish are not the best ingredients for a gig (the bass is supposed to thump around in your stomach, but in your head as well...interesting vibe:-)...than again: surely beats not attending. That is not an option!
Seemed to me that volume of Bono was a tad on the low side compared to the others, but my ears were not fit to really judge. Did notice some guitar troubles...but also must say its a credit to the entire band how they deal with those unforsees things they will not enjoy...
Other than that I felt privileged to hear EBW, a gem imho. Crowd did seem to dig the classic tunes the most...lovely to see them all go NUTS as well. All in all another night to remember!

Agree the setlist was 'pretty standard' and shame Glastonbury was not performed (although u2.com still thinks it has been played...), but hey, for me (as a rather new gig visitor) hearing my first new intro,NYD, UTEOTW, MS, EBW...amazing experience anyhow..'electricity to the spine' is what David Letterman said last year and he could not be more correct.

Another plus for Vienna...last year it took us 1,5 hours to even reach the Tube, now we we IN the U2-bahn (epic) within 15 minutes (that is staying until band is gone...at the far side of the stadium)...meanwhile having collected newspaper and energy drink. Happy enough as the cold was not helping the fever...but life is all about making sacrifices, right? :-)

Now getting ready for 2 nights in Brussels, secretly hoping for some changes for night 2....but honestly do realise this is coming from somebody being spoiled very quickly. Bringing friends for night 1, their introduction to U2 live...should be amazing.

Attending any gig from these guys is just a incredible privilege...for all I care they play a 2 hours version of MW :-)))

Also astonishing amount of coverage in newspapers, from when we arrived on Saturday untill Tuesday...several pages each day...including setlist (haha, that was funny).

    After returning home...2 bootlegs are out...just GR8!

    DANKE TO AUSTRIA...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
  4. great story
  5. What the fuck happened to the end of UTEOTW...?
  6. yeah, i'm wondering too

I didn't notice it at the show, had barriers and was in seventh heaven. Maybe Edge broke his string, because Bono did mention something about physics and cold wind
I think this is why they didn't play glastonbury, though it had been in the setlist...
  7. The were severe technical issues Edge had during the whole concert. Most noticable during Magnificent and Until The End Of The World. Also occasionally Edge waited for his guitar (Elevation I think) or had to switch it with another guitar in the middle of a song (City).
  8. New one up on U2torrents by MLKLuke. Sounds good
