1. In my opinion, a "club album" doesn't mean that they will do an electronic music album. I just think they'll give us more stuff like Get On Your Boots or something "groove" or "dancing", like Mysterious Ways.

Also doesn't think this album will come before Songs Of Ascent.

  2. I'd like to see some combine the experimentalism of AB/Zooropa/Pop with the return to their classic sound of the ATYCLB and Atomic Bomb. They tried to do this with NLOTH, I think, but it failed to be as musically accessible as it could have been.

My hope is that NLOTH will be seen like UF, the transitional album that led to JT, in relation to the next big album.

They seem to be trying to move in a new direction, and NLOTH may have been the beginning of that rather than the realization.

A combination of rock, club, and meditative psalms, with at least a few big hit singles. Now that would be very cool.

Never thought of it like that, but now that you mention it I can actually see that playing out. Good stuff. At any rate, Songs of Ascent should be pretty amazing. To me, we've already heard 4 great new songs (who knows if and how many of them will be on a new record) so I'm pretty excited to see what they come out with next. My guess is the same as yours, hopefully!
  4. It seems to me that they basically have Songs of Ascent done, but that while finishing that up they have come up with a whole new bunch of songs and don't know what to do. I think Songs of Ascent is basically No Line Part 2, and there is another album emerging.

I'm excied about all these possibilities. We'll see.

    A year or so ?
3 singles from 1 album isn't that much is it ?
Don't want to start a "What will be the new single?" thread, but i really think they should bring out one soon...

FoxFM here in Melbourne had an interview with Bono & Edge a copule of days ago, the DJ's announced Breathe as the "new single", it was also very edited.

Interesting really considering the new album to be released very soon & Breathe taken off the live play list.

Edited in the way of shortened?

  7. Yes, shortered in the middle and at the end of the song, is obviously a radio edit of sorts.

  8. About the "Club"-album... You also have to consider that the guys are around their 50's now, so don't expect anything too funky

  9. The live version of Crazy Tonight these old 50 year olds bounce around to every night is quite funk worthy.....

Yep, they can still do SOME funky (what a word actually) things, but i don't see a whole album of that sort of things arriving anmore... Or a funky tour.
  11. Funky Town.

And I doubt that Breathe will be the next single. As someone else said, it's been dropped live, it was even dropped out of the tour dvd, and I think they have a new album coming out soon. I think the highest possibility of a single is coming out of Glastonbury.
  12. I think it is increasingly likely that if I was being incredibly optimistic there will be a new U2 album by the end of this year.:=)
