I was hoping that would be hypothetical.
  3. I think the worst thing about NLOTH is the single choices send a message that it's a dumb album. It's not. Boots ruined its reputation before it even came out.

Imagine how people would have responded to a Magnificent, Moment Of Surrender, and No Line On The Horizon single lineup.

I totally agree with you. Boots was a very wrong first single. Magnificent should have been the first. Can't understand why they never released MOS as a single.

It's too long, even as a single edit. To keep all the good bits in you have to take it down to about 5.30 - and even then, you may as well leave it as is.
  6. Is it just me, or back when NLOTH was about to be released, on the various sites such as Amazon, that all had preview snippets of each song, the album seemed to be a lot more interesting?

By that I mean, the songs sounded really frickin good, on the small parts that we were allowed to listen to.

    Ahhh good times.

True, but everybody also loved Get On Your Boots when it came it.
I remember reading stuff like "that's the best rocker in ages" , " I LOVE it" etc.

Probably just the excitement of hearing something new.
  8. Yep. Same story on every album. Once the excitement settles, the bashing begins.

It's still a better song than Vertigo and Beautiful Day and Elevation and any other U2 2000-2010 rocker you'd care to name. Besides Crumbs and A Man And A Woman - which are both great songs as is Boots - just something completely unexpected and cool. But it doesn't work all that well on NLOTH - in fact I don't think it works on an album in any position. As a B-side it does.

Had we known it had been available for two weeks prior to the big leak, then we would have had different opinions.

It was the other way around for me. When I heard the clips I was nervous because I didn't really like what I heard at first.
