1. You gotta love opinions
  2. I actually like how abbreviated it is now because at 6 and a half minutes it might be too long (and I don't even like all the lyrics on the original) Imo
  3. Liking the live version now better than the studio version

But it didn't make it on the album so it suddenly became this mythic legend that we all kind of worshipped (like other songs that never make it live like Acrobat, Fez etc). Play a great song long enough and the greatness will fail (Streets, One, Bad, Unforgettable Fire, WOWY, MLK, Walk On etc).

Mercy is the biggest curve ball we are ever likely to see and that's what we should be praising.

Weak song?, used to be good?, gay chorus?, a failed holy grail? None of it matters. Long like the curve balls.

I agree with you except for the Streets, One Bad etc bit. Streets will always be great in my opinion and I will never tire of it. Well I haven't for the last 23 years anyway! In fact, I'm listenening to it right now! The same goes for the other classics. They're the main reason why I love these guys so much. They'll always be with me.

But I'm still a shameless sucker for Mercy.

    +1

But the B-Side version of Mercy (if that's what you mean?) not the newer one. I think it's great and all that they're bringing it out, don't get me wrong, I'm very happy about that. I just find it strange that they would change it when they know their biggest fanbase, as Gerry put, thought the leaked version was legendary. Why tamper with that? They knew there would be a risk of pissing people off, is there a chance they didn't know what the fans thought of it at all? I thought Edge was said to roam fan sites? If they had a b-side that people thought was meh, and changed it, I'd be fine with that. But Mercy was a b-side that a lot of fans who liked it thought it was great as it is, the only thing it needed was an official release.

Agree. And yes I do prefer the original but I'm glad they played it just the same.

    spot on.

Having listened to the san sebastian version, it sounds pretty good to me in its new incarnation. The band seem happy with it too.
Besides, everyone who wants the demo version has it by now in some format.
  8. Yep it grows a lot

  9. Mercy Live Super!
