1. There are a lot of crapy music here Brazil. The biggest part of songs talk about sex and "how I lost my love" and this kind of thing. Midia says that we are in a period with almost no criativity here, but I could show you some good stuff we have. So here we go...

Seu Jorge is a great singer here. I love his style. It's a mix between pop and the Brazilian samba. Here's a nice and funny song that talks about rich girls and their habits.

Paralamas do Sucesso is a great band. They started playing in early 80s and they're a big success here. The singer/guitar player had a terrible plane accident in 2002 where he lost his wife and his hability to walk. He decided to move on and keep playing, what is an awesome thing in my opinion. They're also very famous in Argentina, so I found this video with Spanish Lyrics. A song about love.

Finally, one of my favorite bands from here: Jota Quest. Jota means "J" and then you can figure out why they decided to put this name on the band (yes, they're fans of the cartoon J. Quest). Their biggest influences: Jamiroquai, some Brazilian 80s bands and...U2. They were in audience of both shows here in 2006. Here's a song called "Better Days".

    Enjoy

  2. Forgot to say: Thanks Victor! You did half of my job here

  3. Please people from The Netherlands dont show our music here Pleaseee

  4. You're right, Montana 1984 is a book I read some time ago, but I didn't know (even remotely) there was a band called like that. And I swear they sound good!! Thanks
  5. I don't know if I may use this topic for it but here is one rockband that wants to become a big hit in Austria.

    Lost Cowboys:
    www.lost-cowboys.at
    www.myspace.com/schlierbachrock

Here is the internationally most sucsessful musician of Austria of all time next to Mozart:
FALCO with Rock me Amadeus - do you remember him?
  6. Not gonna post something from Holland, because 99% off all acts are terrible
  7. Australia has a fantastic local music scene with a great variety of acts. One of my favourite live bands, Jackson Jackson is the side project of some of the geniuses behind another great band The Cat Empire.

    Here's Jackson Jackson's 'Eliza'

And speaking of The Cat Empire...here's one of my favourite of their songs and one that really shows them at their most typical

    The Car Song

I caught these next guys at a festival earlier this year and have since become a fan. Art vs Science are just full-on fun and energetic pop-rock.

    Parlez vous Francais?

Jumping in my time-machine for a moment, here's one of the truly great Oz bands of the 80s, The Go-Betweens with one of their best-loved songs, filmed in my hometown in all its unlovely 80s torpor. We just named a bridge after these guys.

    Streets of Your Town

No post about Oz music could be complete without the terrifyingly awesome Mr Nick Cave. I've never been to a gig of his and not come away feeling like I should check I've still got my knickers. From the early days with The Birthday Party to The Bad Seeds to his latest project, Grinderman, Nick Cave is all about the sexy smart rocking darkness.

Here's Grinderman with Dig! Lazarus! Dig!

And last (because this is already getting super-long) is one of Oz's finest hip-hop bands, The Herd. Australian hip-hop tends to be quite political, which suits me, but YMMV. This is their cover of a song by another fine Australian band of the 70s, Redgum. I've yet to hear this song without a tear threatening to fall.

    I Was Only 19

I could go on (and on and on) reccing all the fabulous Australian acts both past and present that I listen to regularly, but I'll leave it there and anyone who wants more is welcome to ask.

  8. That's not true. 99% of the music you hear on the radio is terrible. Holland has got some really good artists!

  9. Kane are good. Heard this song on Fifa 2003 and I've liked it ever since.

Urban Dance Squad - Fast Lane

Claw Boys Claw - Bite The Dice
