    iPhone fans hate the open environment 'cos limiting you to what they deem right is safe. The iPhone without a jailbreak is that limited - the little tweaks here and there are the best and they really make you glad you bothered to jailbreak. I don't wanna be the same as anyone else, give me room to change!!!

    I'll have to keep an eye out for a cheap Android phone. If I see one I'll grab it.
  2. I'm running Android 2.2 with HTC Sense on my HD2 and it's pretty awesome. Played around with Android before on my brothers Tattoo and was suitably impressed.

    Despise iPhones.

    Well i've been looking for some phones for my sister to consider and found a pretty decent deal on a HTC Wildfire in Argos.

    Yeah it's on Vodafone, but if you can get it unlocked at a decent price the worlds your oyster. Comes with a 3.2" capactivie touch screen, Wi-Fi internet, memory card expansion, Android 2.1 which combined with HTC Sense will give you that easy access to Facebook/Twitter, you'll have a pretty large market of apps to choose from and at 528Mhz processor, it's hardly a snail (for a phone at this price point).

    Owning a HTC HD2 myself (with a HTC Sense Android build) I'm going to be a bit more biased towards a HTC product. The only issue with the Wildifre is the screen's resolution, 240x320. My brother has a HTC Tattoo (predecessor to Wildfire) which sports the same resolution over a 2.8" screen and it's sometimes a bit fuzzy (this might be down to the fact that the Tattoo has a resisitive touch screen as opposed to capacitive and I generally fine capacitive screens a bit clearer)

    Let me know what you think/any more features you want and I'll check some more deals out for you.

  4. The wildfire is nice but Android (and particularly sense) are ruined with that low resolution. A Hero would be a better bet even though it is an 'older' device.

    Still can't fault the Blade for value. Still going to get another Nokia but it will be in addition to the Blade rather than replacing it.


  5. No probs, does look a decent phone. 3.5" screen which is same as iPhone 4. 800x480 resolution, so stuff should be crisp on screen. Wi-Fi connectivity etc.

    Agreed, the resolution isn't pretty on the Wildfire, which is a shame and a surprise when you consider that this San Francisco/Blade device has a better resolution and larger screen for less £.
  6. @iTem Icm also sure somebody will attempt to port Sense to the Blads. Developers are already going mad with it. the clock and weather widgets are already available via a quick hack and many of the other widgets can be had from the market. I got the HTC keyboard installed last night.

  10. Windows Phone 7 owns Android,

    I was playing with it at the phone shop today and the interface is really something else, really clean and ultra modern not a clone of the iOS like every other smartphone out there. It's amazing that MS has actually managed to out Apple Apple! and actually bring something innovative to the market.

    It's definitely the most impressive smartphone OS at launch, far more complete than Android was at launch and even the original iPhone.






    I'm thinking of swapping my 3GS to a WP7 next year when my contract runs out, I don't like how the iPhone has become a phone for the masses.
  11. Looks like a great interface. I saw one the other day; are they possible to get on prepaid or at least outright and unlocked?

    The iPhone has become so popular that you know, once it was cool to have one - and I was the same with my original iPod touch, everyone thought it was great. That was about four months after they were originally released - and now it just doesn't seem like that great a thing to have.

    Nice interface perhaps. Little while to go yet before it's anywhere near complete though. Symbian is still the best OS for me. Sure it doesn't have an ultra glitzy interface but it can't be matched for sheer functionality.

    No system-wide file manager
    No videocalling
    No Bluetooth file transfers
    No USB mass storage mode******
    No multitasking ******
    No copy/paste*******
    Too dependent on Zune software for computer file management and syncing
    No music player equalisers
    No Flash or Silverlight support in the web browser
    No sign of free Bing maps Navigation so far

    New ringtones available only through the Marketplace
    Swapping memory card requires hard reset; cards not readable by computer*******
