I like it a lot, Matt, great job!!! I've played over it a lot and I like like like it. On the key of G (that's always a good point for me) and great to jam and play along. Are you planning to write any lyrics for it? If not, let me tell you that it would be a great show opener!!

PS. Damn you and your PRS guitar - I can't reach that super high note at 2:52, you play it on the 24th fret right? Ugh ¬¬....

Haha yep, that's the PRS 24th And yes, I've got lyrics for it- most of them anyway. Need to write one more verse, and planning on using a variation of the chorus for the last time around. Quick sample of the chorus...

    Sick of being followed
    Of all the anticipation
    That you bring
    Sick of all the fights

    I don't need a flame, no
    Cause I'm sick of burnin'
    Trails of powder
That you leave for me to light

Thanks for the support, too! Can't wait to finish it up.
  2. Oh, so it's not an instrumental song... No chance of it opening the next Incognito Burrito concert then
  3. Matt, that recording is very nice. My favorite part is around 1:16, with the chord changes. To be completely honest, that one chord progression is my favorite part of the the entire song. I can't wait to hear a more complete version!

Me too, I liked that progression a lot. It took me a while until I found the third chord (Bb), I'm not used to a Bb chord inside a general G key, but it made sense at the end (G, F, C and then Bb as a minor relative -or whatever it's called- , adding a very interesting change). Well done once again
  5. This is my two minute audition song for this competition I have coming up.
Let me know what you think.

(Sound : Processed Electronic Drums pre-recorded in background / ascending and descending synth lines/ acoustic guitar)

    'Glow'

Come unto me in a stellar night time display
    God knows that you can.

And if you feel that you're a million miles away
    Raise a protesting hand!

I tell a tale of moonglow reverie,
    indulge in words I say

I want to run so far away
Oh! To run so far away...

    I want to
    Glow…
    Glow…
    Glow.

    Glow…
    Glow…
    Glow.

    Bridge*

I am the astronomer, I want to be the astronaut
I want to live inside the sound, not be stuck here gazing upward, from the ground.

    Guitar Build up

    *
There's a star falling from the sky
    Crashing to the ground.

There's a star falling from the sky
    Crashing to the ground.

There's a star falling from the sky
    falling from the sky
    falling from the sky

    Watch it Glow. Glow. Glow.
  6. I am the astronomer, I want to be the astronaut

    Epic

I like the obvious references to The Fly a lot too. Well done. Guitar build-up always means fun

lol there are none. Consciously anyway.
  8. Ha!
  9. This is a trip-hop style song.

Here in the dark I stand not feeling anything.
Here I stand in the dark.
Here I stand immune to emotion, Here I stand tall.
Here the only pain, is feeling nothing at all.

How can I believe in anything that lead me to this?
How can I believe in anything that lead me to this could bear the name of Love?

How can I believe in anything that lead me to this?
How can I believe in anything that lead me to this could bear the name of Love?

    The world I'd known
    The land I loved
    Was stolen from me

    The world I'd known
    The land I loved
    Was stolen from me

    Here comes this chance,
    here comes this chance
To reclaim what was stolen from me.

I used to feel, I used to feel
    The space between space

I used to be, I used to be
My own energy, none could take me.

    Here comes this moment,
    to cut through the black

    Here comes this chance,
    to take it all back.

    The world I'd known
    The land I loved
    Was stolen from me

    The world I'd known
    The land I loved
    Was stolen from me

    Here comes this chance,
    here comes this chance
To reclaim what was stolen from me.

    You are the one.
    You are the one.
    The One.
  10. Here's a tune that I made the day my Digitech WH-1 arrived. Working title of "Whammy Song". That will probably change when the lyrics are sorted out.

    http://soundcloud.com/anstratdubh1979/whammysong-workingtitle-v1

    Danelectro 56-U2 > Digitech WH-1 Whammy > Behringer V-amp2

I think there were some other pedals too but I don't remember exactly what I used. Might have been a Boss PW-2 Power Driver in there.

  11. Very cool Jeff, really like the flavor you're getting from the amp. Sounds like some kickass 60s fuzz-garage rock...almost like a modern(er) Velvet Underground.
  12. http://soundcloud.com/mattieg/sonic

Tentatively titled "Sonic", just fooling around earlier and ended up liking it. (my favorite part of the entire thing was actually a mistake that sounded really cool after haha )

    So yeah, any listeners?!

It still needs a solo over the huge opening at the end- gonna track that tomorrow morning when I have time to really sit down and write one- the rest of the song was just improv tonight. Hope to add a few little synth-y soundscapes here and there too. Very minimal, but to add flavor. And I'd keep this one instrumental.
