1. Shocking Matt I thought highly of you before.
  2. Why??

I LOVE Bad, but I agree with Matt that Bad shouldnt be on every show, Bad should be in a rotation slot.
  3. I'm only joking Bart Yeah but a "perfect" setlist has nothing to rotate around.

  5. Wasn't my "perfect" setlist, it was a hybrid of the three years' setlists so far. Bad has been so rare that it didn't really fit in anywhere; I thought YBR better represented some of the earlier days, especially when paired against North Star, really contrasting the eras. This was just the best thread to put the setlist on

Been meaning to write one for awhile like that. I can do a perfect one now...a completely improbable one...that'd be fun...
  6. I'm moderately happy with this. Suggestions/changes welcome.

Yes, my setlist only has 12 songs. No, it's not perfect, even for me. But if I went to a concert and got this, I'd be blown away and walked home happily without asking why it only contained 12 songs. It would be an hour of pure pleasure. And probably the next day on this forum, the only thing I would write about my concert would be a big smiley

See, I'm not a demanding fan.

Achtung Baby is one of their greatest albums, but how about U2 tries something new instead of repeating Zoo TV in every tour.

  11. Depends on how that "something new" sounds . If it's good, then I'm all for it. And, I heard a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 of those songs (from AB) in a single concert until now (spread over 3 tours and 4 different legs), which most definitely isn't repeating Zoo TV.

  12. Bob, I know its going to sound surprising, but I completely agree with you. I think they SHOULD try more things instead of working the Zoo routine....but, also- think about it from the other perspective. After taking a break from ZooTV for the entire PopMart Tour, where NO traces of setlist similarities existed, they embarked on Elevation...where people's favorite moments tended to be "The Fly", or in particular, a show that was mentioned on the "Last time U2 blew you away" thread- the 2001-05-16 Chicago show, where after Elevation, the band basically played a ZooTV setlist for the next 5 or 6 songs.

Cut to the Vertigo Tour...best part of the setlist? The Zoo encore. It's almost unanimous, I think, that this was the coolest part of that tour. (Perhaps I'm completely wrong...I thought plenty of things about that setlist were cool, but I think it's more widely agreed that the encore was one of the coolest)

So, I do completely agree- try something new! Do a Pop throwback, get rid of the "throwback" feel and do something radical, what have you...but also, I think it's fair to acknowledge that they may understand that the Zoo aspect of every show SINCE ZooTV has been perhaps the most enjoyed part of their show.

Them playing AB in full, now, though- I'd be against that. If they wanted to do perhaps a club tour in 92, pre-ZooTV, just to promote, and play the album in full THEN, when the songs were FRESH, then maybe. But not anymore.
