Bob, I know its going to sound surprising, but I completely agree with you. I think they SHOULD try more things instead of working the Zoo routine....but, also- think about it from the other perspective. After taking a break from ZooTV for the entire PopMart Tour, where NO traces of setlist similarities existed, they embarked on Elevation...where people's favorite moments tended to be "The Fly", or in particular, a show that was mentioned on the "Last time U2 blew you away" thread- the 2001-05-16 Chicago show, where after Elevation, the band basically played a ZooTV setlist for the next 5 or 6 songs.

Cut to the Vertigo Tour...best part of the setlist? The Zoo encore. It's almost unanimous, I think, that this was the coolest part of that tour. (Perhaps I'm completely wrong...I thought plenty of things about that setlist were cool, but I think it's more widely agreed that the encore was one of the coolest)

So, I do completely agree- try something new! Do a Pop throwback, get rid of the "throwback" feel and do something radical, what have you...but also, I think it's fair to acknowledge that they may understand that the Zoo aspect of every show SINCE ZooTV has been perhaps the most enjoyed part of their show.

Them playing AB in full, now, though- I'd be against that. If they wanted to do perhaps a club tour in 92, pre-ZooTV, just to promote, and play the album in full THEN, when the songs were FRESH, then maybe. But not anymore.

Yes, there has been some ZooTV influenced moments in every tour except for PopMart. Bono even looks like The Fly again.

  2. Never mind

  3. I can dig it.

They should always play four or so songs from AB but it would be ridculous for them to do the whole album. Who do they think they are - Weezer?

Plenty of people like Springsteen, Roger Waters, Rush, and The Who did tours where they featured classic albums front to back and they were magical.
  6. going back to what matt said a while back, I made a wanna be 2009/2010 hybrid setlist / format of what they could do if they really wanted to do something liek that (I wish):

    Breathe
    No Line on the Horizon
    Get on Your Boots
    Magnificent
    Beautiful Day
    Mysterious Ways
    Elevation
Until the End of the World
    New Year's Day segue sometimes
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / All I Want Is You
Stay (Faraway, So Close!) / Bad / In a Little While / Pride / Stuck / Mercy / North Star
    Unknown Caller / Miss Sarajevo
    The Unforgettable Fire (sometimes)
    City of Blinding Lights
    Vertigo
    Crazy Tonight
    Sunday Bloody Sunday
    Scarlet
    Walk On
    ______
    One
    Amazing Grace / Streets
    Bad (sometimes)
    ______
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
    Ultraviolet
    With or Without You
    Moment of Surrender

you know they could alternate stuff ahaha wouldn't kill them
  7. I prefer my concerts to be new experiences, not the album played in order.
  8. i've never been to a concert where an album is played the whole way through

i wouldn't mind it if it was an album that i loved, or that was a complete album (no fillers etc)..

which in my opinion would be TJT, AB, ATYCLB and even War... i would love to see u2 play any of those albums fully at a concert..

    just my opinion though
