1. Speaking of Pop songs/PopMart, I wish they'd give IGWSHA a chance on the acoustic.
  2. in retrospect his speech before ISHFWILF on the mexico city dvd rings very hollow for me now and has become the definition of irony..

at the time, approaching the end of a decade that had seen them push many boundaries and make some of the most innovative, creative, interesting albums of any band i've ever heard the "looking for new sounds, new feelings, new colours" part of that speech reassured me that this would continue into the next decade and U2 would continue to be a forward looking band....

unfortunately though, the exact opposite happened....

"if it keeps us interested, it's not gonna be bullshit for you" hmmmmmmm are you sure about that bono?

  3. I see a lot of similarities between POPMart and 360 to be honest ahaha they have the same pluses and minuses.

Stingray Guitar has the same swagger as POP Muzik and Mofo imo
I Will Follow in second place
Until the End and Still Haven't Found are in the same local on the setlist (with an acoustic section after Stil Haven't)
a speech around Still Haven't like on Popmart
    the Crazy Tonight remix!
    Batman is back
the stage is enormous (haven't done that properly since Popmart)
the album they are promoting "flopped" (whatever that means to you)

    both great tours

Really good breakdown, actually...I agree with pretty much all of it.

I actually thoughthe'd come straight from the blue oyster bar lol

I agree with all u said, until the..great tour part.Didnt Larry say after the Pop tour 'I will never do another tour like that again!".The Pop tour and PoP cd were a disaster. For U2 standards that is.Its U2s Magical Mystery Tour. The band are so uptight with the Pop release. They even remixed/new mix the Pop songs for the Best Of release. They very rarely play a tune from Pop live.I didnt care for the Pop tour or cd.As a matter of fact, that is the only tour where I saw the band only 1 time.UF-360 I have attended numerous, numerous dates.I believe the Pop tour lost money.I have also read, that the PoPmart tour lost loads of money. They broke even in 2009 at best according to Q magazine. The 1 and only PoP gig I saw, I was in shock. The band dressed like the Village People? The came out of a 50 foot Lemon? To each his own.If you love the Pop tour and cd,thats cool.I know alot of Europeans love that period. For me,its about the MUSIC.Like it was with U2 in the 1980s.I liked Elevation, and Vertigo tours.Alot.
Let me ask this, did the Pop cd do well in Europe ? So many Europeans talk about it like it was an epic release.Like it outsold JT and AB combined. I thought it bombed all over.Maybe Im wrong.
Here in the States,it died a quick ugly death.Like I said. Its about the music, not distractions. The PoP songs I like live, much better than the studio versions.Thats my opinion. But I think the band would agree. They went back to basics for a reason.Until 360 that is..........

  7. I actually think MOFO and or Last Night On Earth would have worked really well on this tour. The whole space thing with Last Night could have been great. But the band try to forget this release it seems.
  8. I liked the album. The tour was great, but not my favorite. I'd probably rank it 3rd, with the Vertigo tour first and Elevation tour second.
  9. tied best with Zoo, for me.

great album and stunning tour, i just wish they'd revist the pop album in their live sets now; they act as if its an embarassment to them or something.
  10. Popmart tour for ever. The one I can listen to with no end. that the way I like it...
