1. sweet jesus! i've spent the last few months mostly out of the U2 loop (for fear of overplaying them and burning myself out), and i come back and find EBTTRT back and magnificent dropped?

definitely gonna give the boot a listen. things like this make me realise why i love this band, it's good to be back. haha

  2. It's above 3'5 in my opinion. If I think of other 4 stars recordings, this is obviously inferior, but... if I think of other 3'5 ones, it sounds better. WHat do you people think? (from those who have downloaded and listened to the show)
  3. Listening now and the difference is slight, bit more crowd interference maybe. its a tough one to call. suppose its got to the point where we have a poor 4star, a good 4star and an excellent 4 star.
  4. It's worse than the first night recording, so certainly not 4 stars in my opinion. 3,5 is fine.
  5. Originally posted by ric:this tour has nothing to do with the NLOTH album anymore. it just seems to be a tour for the sake of it, taking in the parts of the world they haven't visited for a while and then going back to america again to make them more money...

i won't be sad when it ends cos to me it just seems all a bit aimless now...!?

i think that unless it's billed as a greatest hits tour then a tour should be to promote a new album and it's over two years since NLOTH

The band tour to make money, period. All over. That is how the industry is now.The internet really has changed things.I have had tickets to the 4 shows Im attending this summer,(in America and Canada),since November of 2009.That is a long time to have to wait.I paid big money for the gigs, right before the holidays,2009 ! But,Bono blew his back out,so what can you do.You wait. The great European shows of 2010, were supposed to happen after the American gigs.
Anyway, this tour reminds me a bit of the Zoo TV tour,1992/93.I had the good fortune of seeing that show 10 times (1992).Very large, over the top stage. The show really didnt change much( as far as the setlist) each night. When they started up again, in spring/summer of 1993,they once again opened with Zoo Station, played the same songs off Achtung Baby, and closed with Love Is Blindess, every single night,as they did in 1992.The odd thing was,the band had a new cd out,Zooropa, which they basically ignored live, until the Australian shows at the end of 1993.In 2010, the band played some unreleased songs live, to spice up the shows. What frustrates me,as a longtime fan, they were supposed to release Songs Of Ascent, around June 2010.Then go on tour.At least, that was the heavy rumor.
As far as this tour being stale,well... it is.The band basically play the same "hits" each night.Sure, they mix in Pride for SBS,or play Bad one night,North Star the next.Make a change in the 8th or 9th slot(if they are playing another show in the same city).Swap Hold Me for UV.Ultimately, they just dont mix up their sets enough, they never have really.Vertigo 2005 tour was the exception to the rule. They did mix things up quite alot during the Vertigo 2005 tour.Fast forward to 2011.EBTTRT was played the other night. They actually changed the opening song.I thought that was great, but people were so excited.I mean, really excited.Pearl Jam,Bruce,DMB do that EVERY NIGHT.Open with a different song, mix up the main set, close with a different song or songs. This shows how stale things are for us fans.Bruce has said he would lose his mind if he played the same songs each night.Radiohead mix their sets up alot as well.Repeating alot of songs, yes,but mixing them up.
The Crazy Tonight remix is an embarrassment,IMO.I cant believe the band took a decent sounding song, and ruined it,and keep playing it over, and over and over.Boots has a decent beat, but the lyrics are silly and very juvenile.I mean,Bono is going to be 51 this May.Can you imagine Bruce, Liam Gallagher or Eddie Vedder singing "Get On Your Boots....YEAH..Your Sexy Boots..YEAH"..LOL.....
NLOTH,Breathe and UC are much better songs,IMO.Also,I wonder if Songs of Ascent cd will even be released at this point. And can the band please release a live cd.For once please. The 3 song single Wide Awake in Europe was a tease.1 of the 3 songs(Crazy Remix) was already released. The 2010 European tour was fantastic. One of the best,no question,in the bands long history.Would releasing a doulbe live cd,Live In Europe 2010, kill them ?? Im still trying to stay optimistic, that somehow SOA sees the light of day before the American tour.....we shall see.......Peace.
  6. People, there is a fantastic key in your keyboards, it's this one:

The real question here Sergio is this (besides my long, ranting, run on,not enough commas and such and such, lack of a pause.... between parts of a wild incoherent emotional statement statement).........do you agree that the band should mix things up,as they did in 2005..or no?

I think everyone on this Forum thinks that they should mix things up
  11. I do think it, indeed... but I am more or less happy with how things are now. They're not on the edge of the innovation and sure their setlists have not the same dynamism as they had... wait, their setlists were never dynamic! Well, let's take Lovetown as a (bad) example. For sure the 360 setlist is not as varied (?), but they're pulling out some great performances very often (saying "night after night" wouldn't be accurate either), and they're taking some risks every now and then. I'm happy.

Moreover, and this is my summary: they have to play for the 80.000 who are there on the stadium every night, not for the X.000 (X<5, I'm sure) who follow the concerts sat at their computers spread around the world. That's all. Accept it and be happy, or deny it and be bitter.

  12. Maybe, maybe not.Im sure there are some fans in this forum who love Boots and feel the Crazy Tonight Remix is fantastic,as is their right.I just hope and pray the show is different this summer, as it was in 2010.As I mentioned before,IMO,Crazy Tonight Remix and Boots should go.I would much rather hear the new songs,or other unplayed songs from NLOTH.Bring back Breathe and NLOTH please.
