    People's complaint is that they've "sold out" by sounding commercial and radio-friendly instead of the drunken southern rock style grit that they used to play, particularly on their early albums "Youth and Young Manhood" and "Aha Shake Heartbreak". I hear two different eras, and I absolutely love them both. "Use Somebody" may be crap, but if that's what it took to get them to make masterpieces like "The Face", "The Immortals", "The End", "Pickup Truck", and "Mary" off of Come Around Sundown, then I'm perfectly fine with it.

    And they put on a HELL of a show.

  4. Starting to consider going to see them in Manchester later this year at Old Trafford (Cricket ground - same place I saw Muse ).

    But I am quite surprised at the price! Muse are big here too. But they had 3 support bands and it cost £55. Whereas KoL have 2 support bands and are charging £60 for the same standing ticket Hmmmm....
    Muse had better support bands too. Editors are awesome, but not too keen on White Lies....
  5. I refused to pay 67'50€ (more or less your same 60 punds) a few months ago. I did it back then and would do it now. It is abusive for what they offer. Sure they are a fantastic live band (I don't like Caleb's voice outta the studio anyway) and all, but they're seriously not worth 67 euros... I paid 50 for Muse and would do it again. But I wouldn't pay more than 50 for KoL.

  7. Any idea how long they are on for too? The site says the gates open at 4 (same time as muse) but can't imagine them playing for any longer than Muse which is odd... And 'White Lies' don't even have half the great song selection of Editors...

    And off topic, I'd totally pay £60 to see Muse again, their stage, performance and setlist was mind-blowing

    It's funny you mention KOL and Muse together as they are the two bands I am "trying to get into" lately. I've been under a rock for quite some time now when it comes to popular rock music.

    At this point, I have to say that I much prefer Muse's music. I wish they were opening for U2 in North America this summer.

    The first time I heard "Use Somebody," I thought it was "cheese" and it turned me off the band. I'd have to agree that the tracks I've listened to from their earlier albums are better.
  10. they're charging £60+ for tickets? jesus, that's steep. especially considering that, if i recall correctly, Caleb says on the O2 DVD that he doesn't like fans having to pay for concert tickets and wouldn't mind doing it for free, or words to that effect.

    £40ish is the maximum i'd be willing to pay for a ticket for any band other than U2 i reckon. and even then it wouldn't be a no brainer.

    From what I gather, they have no control over what's being charged. We only paid $60 for our great seats, and those seats in an American arena generally run closer to $100 no matter WHO'S playing. If a band is big enough to be playing an arena, those tickets are that expensive, all the time.

    $60 was cheap for those seats, and I know it's because the venue forces those seats to be set at a higher price range (they're called the "club" level). Sure, they want to make some money off of their tour, but they aren't charging you a flat out sixty bucks that's then going into your pocket.

    Think about how much a PopMart ticket might have cost- and remember the band only saw a profit on t-shirts. Not that KOL are carting around a giant lemon...but they do have tour expenses of their own to be paying, crew, etc. It may not add up to much in their checkbooks in the long run, but its unfair to blame them for your tickets being above average for what you'd want to see them for. Like it or not, they've blown up- they're not the same Aha-Shakers they were 5 years ago that could charge $30 for a club show.

Of course the band have not total control over the ticket price range, but their management does - specially on GA tickets (you're right about seats being more dependant of the venue's price policy). And if their management wouldn't agree with the ticket's price, they would be playing another venue, so... The band ends up being collaterally blamed for the tickets prices, yes.
