1. Only actual football has been seen from the Barça side, as always.
But hey, that's the competition: one wins, the other loses. And the one that wins is not always the best one...

For a player of his talent and value, it is only natural to leave our team now after this season, when Schalke will still get money for him. Football is a business and all. I'd see him leave for Italy or Spain or England or any other German team that can provide him with a chance to play on top of the European leagues next season -- BUT (!!!) you just don't go for Bayern Munich. You just don't. Bayern won't get him because they need him, they always have too many good players that just rot on the sideline never playing for their millions -- Bayern has a habit to buy the best players away from other teams just so these teams lose their good players. It's the Bayern tactic, everyone knows that. It's a shame, a real shame, for a goalkeeper like Manuel Neuer who has been part of Schalke for 20 years of his life, to go to those Munich idiots (with all due respect to any Bayern fan reading along, this is just my opinion). Munich is a no go. If Neuer leaves for their goddamn millions and thinks he needs to become a Munich idiot -- then he's blinded by the money, and that's a real disappointment. Football is a religion in my area -- and there is only one forbidden thing you must never do --> go to Bayern Munich. Major fail.

Money speaks volumes I fear; in fairness Bayern are arguably a more prestigious club than Schalke in terms of history, and probably have a better shout with their current squad to challenge for the Bundesliga next season than Schalke, might have some part to play in the move. I feel a bit sorry for Thomas Kraft though - yeah he's had some shakey moments but he's got potential to become a solid #1 for Munchen, but football is, as you say, a business which relies on transition, so Neuer going to Munchen is just how it goes. I get the feeling Bayern may actually start whipping the cheque book out and start buying big again in the wake of this season, although that said, if Hannover pip them to 3rd (which I REALLY hope they do), will Ribery, Robben etc. stay to play Europa League football?

By the by, quick thing on Schalke - I would absolutely LOVE it if you guys won the Champions' League this year, almost as much as you guys yourself would. I don't care for either Real Madrid or Barca, and I see enough of Man Utd as it is; all three of them have won the CL in the last decade so they can go without, but Schalke winning it? Mindfuck of the best kind. And Raul is a complete legend. End of.

Back to Neuer, I personally think he'd be better off going to Arsenal or Man Utd - Arsenal need a quality #1 (with Szczesny challenging from the bench) and Man Utd need a successor to Van der Sar, unless they decide to give Kuszczak the #1 spot (which they won't). AC Milan wouldn't be a bad shout for him either; Abbiati's getting on in years (although I think Amelia is far better and should be getting the #1 spot), but I can see logic in him moving to Bayern, crap as it may be from your point of view. However, I do remember reading an interview on Goal.com a few months back with him saying rumours of a move to Bayern were 'pure humbug' (which amused us in my house somewhat), so you can't help but be cynical.

Me and my housemates at uni. have really got into the Bundesliga this season (partly thanks to being able to watch a lot of matches on ESPN, godsend!), and (apologies Kirsten my dear!) Hannover have pretty much become my 2nd team, as I alluded to earlier. I love the fact that, Bayern aside, the teams that are doing well have built themselves up to garner success; I mean, Hannover as an example - they signed Abdellaoue for 1.6m euros, and he's been excellent, and is fairly representative of what I'm loving about the Bundesliga right now; not throwing money around trying to buy instant success, but astute signings who go and fit into the sides successfully. Come to England and you think, Torres for £50m, bloody useless so far; Bebe for £7.5m to Man Utd, complete no-show, and that's not even the tip of the iceberg. Also, the style of football in Germany, it's tactically excellent but also entertaining and passionate. AND you look at someone like Wolfsburg - if we had the equivalent here, e.g. Man Utd or Chelsea in the relegation zone at this stage of the season, the country would be in chaos lol. It's just awesome. So jealous of you guys at the moment (even though Norwich are playing out of their skins right now, one plus side about English football from my point of view)!

And to cap it all off, you have fans like this:
