1. I can't believe he said that...unbelievable. Not the fact that thats the motivation but i cant believe he said it....Just what U2 need...more money. I bet if they actually play an arena tour with "rare" tracks and such they'll charge 200 dollars a seat just because hardcore fans would pay it....
  2. I'll be getn to deluxe edition, so i guess he is kind of right in a way. But still, he shouldnt be saying that kinda stuff, just comes off as being greedy if. I pay $200 does this mean i could really have got it for $150 but they jacked the price up like he mentions here.
  3. I'll download it, that's $200 he will not be getting from me
  4. not meaning to defend Big Paul .. but a simple question, just to say .. do you think U2 would have been U2 without him? .. do you think there would have been the so much glorified claw/360 without him? for saying some
at least he says how things go without fur on tongue (like we say here)

anyway if everyone will do as they're saying (and i don't think so) it will be easier than ever to get copy of the remaster

ps: always if he really said those things
  5. If there is a single reason that would prevent me from buying a U2 album, it's McGuinness. And I think I'm not alone.
  6. I have not bought any Deluxe Edition of any of the latest years' remasters. Not even my beloved Joshua Tree, I didn't. Sorry. But then, when the news of the Achtung Baby remaster started to spread, I told to myself "Man, it's Achtung Baby, you HAVE to buy this in the best edition possible, and you KNOW IT"... But, after reading that quote my McGuin€$$, I honestly don't feel very keen to do it........
  7. Fairly gobsmacked that McG would come out with a quote like that. I know that's what he's thinking, but to say it out loud to Rolling Stone!? Jeez, pretty crass by anyone's standards. it only serves to feed the perception the haters have that U2 are money hungry greedy, etc, etc. I wouldn't mind, but this is in the context of the last news article posted that showed U2 were the highest earning performers around. Not good PR once more from McG. He really needs to get off the stage and leave it to the lads to talk to the press. McG talking about "there are people out there" who will pay money for extras. Yeah, Paul, those people are called Fans! He's as much as saying that these remasters are an opportunity for us to fleece the fans.
  8. Damn, I sure hope this won't be any more expensive than JT and UF super deluxe. I can't afford something like the Rose Bowl mega deluxe shit.

yeah in the early days i admit he did a great job getting U2 to the top of the world but when is enough going to enough for him??!?! U2 are constantly topping all monetary related lists - highest paid band in the world, highest grossing tour in history etc etc and they split everything 5 ways so that means everything you read about the bands finances applies to him also.. how could he POSSIBLY still want or need to make more money?! its fu*king SICKENING... and as has already been said, to announce it so blatantly is just beyond insulting to the many thousands of fans who work their arses off day in day out in shitty jobs for crap pay in order to shell out for U2 tickets and vastly over-priced products to make him and his band as rich as they are. at least bono thaks us "for giving them a great life" whereas mcguinne$$ just rubs it in our faces..

and on a more trivial note - announcing things like this is just going to fuel the brooding hatred for this band that i see all around me. i mean i'm a big fan and this sort of thing stirs up massive hatred even in me...

  10. Hmmm ! I wonder if we would have got the same set list if they were`nt releasing these remasters.
I am sure a similar thing happened in 2009 with the Unforgettable Fire.
Next tour we may get a few more Pop songs
  11. It is a horrible thing to say. But you have to remember McGuiness is an A&R man, and all A&R men are pricks by definition. Why the hell would anyone expect McGuiness to be better than his Peers, such as Cowell or Walsh.

Yeah, that was terrible, greedy, and dishonest. Just put a fair price and be fair. We fans are fair. We buy official stuff. We pay for it. What he said sounds like an invitation to download stuff illegally. He should actually apologize to the fans.
