  1. Another ho-hum show. I almost feel bad for philly... not a single surprise other than the dropping of The Fly and bringing back Magnificent.

    I'm glad I got rid of my Minneapolis tickets.

  3. I'd quite like them to drop Scarlet/Walk On for Breathe once in a while. Not that they will of course.
  4. Back from the show....very standard set, was disappointed we didn't get The Fly, but there were about 5 songs I heard for the first time tonight (this was my 6th show). Setlist had a note after MOS that said "watch for wild card" but it turned out to be the band asking the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to Nelson Mandella before they walked off. Kind of an awkward ending....
  6. even small changes from show to show always make me pleasure, so i'm glad Magnificent is back, only if it's normal version of course otherwise no hehe.
    it should have taken place of some other song but it's an old issue and ok it's always a change.
    glad also they did again the Hallelujah snippet and i'd like very much someday they do it full (i love the Bon Jovi live version)

    What, you feel bad for an audience that does NOT follow U2 setlists night after night but is instead happy to have the band play a fantastic show?

    I don't understand. Why do fans still think that the majority of an audience at a U2 show is made up of hardcore fans who get bored reading setlists from their computer screen?

    It's sad that some people on U2 forums get so easily bored, frustrated and deluded because they know every details from every show the band has played in the last 2 years. It takes away so much of the magic and excitement that usually comes with a U2 show. I've come to the conclusion that it's much better not to read setlists or follow the discussions before you go to a U2 show, because you are kind of robbing yourself of an amazing experience. Sad to see that, but on the other hand it's good to know that the vast majority of people going to a U2 show still enjoy the concert and have a good time.

    One of the benefits of the tour ending - which is sad, but also necessary - is that it will finally bring an end to the endless setlist controversy.

  9. Dropping The Fly for Magnificent is not a good thing, period. Setlist is still good, but just not as good as it was. Hopefully The Fly returns.

    As far as Breathe, all accounts are that it was the crew checking it. Now if U2 themselves sound check it a couple of times, its a possibility. Until then its not a possibility. 5 shows left, I doubt it shows up. We will see I guess.

  11. "Supposedly" the crew soundchecked Breathe yesterday. The crew soundchecking anything is not a huge deal. They have been known to soundcheck random U2 songs that are never played. They would soundcheck The Fly during Popmart quite often. Larry's tech Sam does the Mofo intro to test Larry's drums all the time.

    For anything to be a possibility, the band themselves have to actually check it. I'm surprised U2 did a soundcheck at all yesterday. Must have been to just run through the old version of Magnificent to make sure they still had it down and thats it. I will be surprised if they soundcheck again this tour. If they do it will most likely be short and I highly doubt it will be something brand new or something they have not played since 2009 like Breathe.

    I'm glad I got to see The Fly done on this tour. Hopefully it returns. I guess at least they did the proper version of Magnificent. The album version opening is the best part of the song to me. Then its just sort of average. Not bad, not great. The remix version they were doing was just flat out boring.

    Like I said, a good setlist, but they did not improve it. The Fly >>>>>> than Magnificent, thats not even close!
  12. As I mentioned earlier, I am so thankful now that they didn't drop "The Fly" until AFTER the T.O. show I attended. It's one of my favourites (as are most tracks from AB) and now I feel very lucky to have heard it live. Hopefully they were just giving it a night off.
