Absolutely true, but he does know that he (and his band) miss millions of dollars because of the illegal downloading and I'm pretty sure that frustrates him enough to seek people who actually can make that happen.
  2. Considering the fact that I was able to buy a copy of Achtung Baby for a quarter at a used bookstore (seriously a lucky find), I think I may pass this one up.

But if they are selling the Fly glasses...
  3. Hi guys, how have you been?

Just posting my thoughts about the remaster AB....

To be honest, I'm very upset. The best version is so f*ing amazing and I'd really looooooove to get it, but this price is a punch in the face. They really should consider there are some people that are big fans but can't afford the hole thing. I mean, at least the biggest part of this community are fans whoovercame lots of obstacles to get albums, go to the shows and get some photo or something like that, and they should know some of their biggest fans just can't buy this...

Anyway, the box content is awesome...It's even better than I expected. I just miss another show or live versions of some songs at least (cd or dvd).
  4. Firstly, I don't think these will be the final prices.
Secondly, no one is forced to by this stuff, though I understand some are upset.
Thirdly, if I like something, I'm willing to spend some money on it. I don't think it makes much sense that some people (I am one of them) can go to several U2 shows, afford the (expensive) tickets, travel and stuff and then claim not to have the money for this release.
Personally, I'll wait for details and might just get the Deluxe boxset because I'm mostly interested in the unreleased stuff and the documentary. I own both original CDs and I couldn't care less about remixes. The ZooTV live DVD inclusion is laughable, I haven't even watched my DVD more than twice. So I'm not so excited about this release, but then again I've never been and I've always said I'd prefer a new U2 album to all these re-issues. Not a friend of these re-releases in general.

  5. They did. There are affordable packages.

You all complain about the price, but seriously, What is so amazing in the uber deluxe that you're so upset about missing it ? Bono's sunglasses ? A magazine ? You don't always have to buy the biggest thing to prove that you're the biggest U2 fan. Nobody will think less of you if you don't get a few stickers and a bigger piece of plastic.

Oh, and people, nobody cares if you're going to download it. I'm guessing the next thing will be a petition ?
  6. I'll be happy if they put all the CDs on Spotify. Then I can listen to them there until the prices are reasonable.

I'll take two extra gigs on the next tour instead of paying 400 euros.
  7. The Bill Gates edition is very pretty, but I'm so over box sets I pretty much don't care what it costs (other than a generalised boggling over just how much they think they can charge for this stuff). I will be interested to hear the reworked material and the remastered stuff, but I'll probably just download that and buy the vinyl.

I will say I'm not surprised there's a Very Expensive version on the menu, after PMcG's comments earlier in the year. I don't think it's a bad thing to have a range of editions available at different prices, but I do think releasing such an expensive top-end item is a poor PR move. They already face accusations of profiteering, of being rich and out of touch and just plain arrogant. I'm not saying any of that is right or justified, but this is the kind of thing that's really easy to use against them.

Well you could pay about 90 euros for the Super Deluxe which comes with 6CDs, 4DVDs, some art, book, and that beautiful packaging. You don't have to pay 400 euros, it's optional.
  9. Those art prints are the images on the original cover. That. Is. Awesome. I can't wait for this already, super deluxe all the way.
  10. wait, do we get those 16 prints in the super deluxe too? i thought that was only in the uber package.
  11. No we get them plus 10 discs and a 92 page hardback book.
  12. i needa suss this out for myself
