agree albums till Pop had their direction after we have mix of things

uhm from what is my experience they won lots of NEW fans, lots of olders start to take a step back since All that you can't and following with the Bomb

I can't help but wonder if that's a difference between European fans and North American fans. Many people and publications seems to prefer Achtung Baby and other 90's stuff on the east side of the Atlantic while The Joshua Tree and ATYCLB gets more praise over here. Just pondering....
  4. from what i know .. Joshua and Achtung have the same spot here
someone prefer one someone else the other but both on top by far
personally i can hardly say which is my favourite
  5. Popmart Sarajevo. Nuff said.

  6. They would never ever release that in any manner. Bono's voice is too weak there to feel it's ok... I feel more keento think they'd release a South American show, probably Buenos Aires or Santiago...

  7. Ha ha.Very true.

I just felt,at that time, U2 were experimenting too much.Zooropa,Passengers, then PoP ? Whatever the "U2 sound" is,it wasnt on those releases.Edge got the old Gibson Explorer out,and BD put them back on the map. They got away from what made them a great band. Its ok to experiment. No question.IMO,JT and ATYCLB have a similar feel.JT and AB are U2s best releases, but ATYCLB made the band relevant again.

The band love all the Grammy Awards they won for ATYCLB and Bomb.

I actually think,IMO, Bomb is a slightly better record, than ATYCLB.But,after 09.11.01,ATYCLB really took on a different meaning with me,and with alot of Americans.Walk On brings me back to that terrible time.I listen to ATYCLB more than any U2 release.

PoP,apparently,is very PoPular in Europe.I dont understand why they didnt play a few songs from that release on the 2010 European tour.

  8. That is an amazing show.Pop live,is very solid.Studio versions are too mixed and distorted,IMO.

but what do you mean with U2 releasing a U2 record? i read you said also that with All that you can't they went back to be U2, puttig it near Joshua (this throws me cold shivers down my spine hehe).
maybe i'm going to extreme but .. so Achtung is not a "U2 album"?
and what is the U2 sound? you can't define it precisely .. all over the years they always went through evolution or maybe, saying better, changes ..
first 3 - Unforgettable - Joshua - Achtung and so on .. they built something that cannot be labeled (and it's really hard for me thinking of another band that did that)
i can accept that someone likes All that more than Pop/Achtung/Joshua/Unforgettable .. it's really hard but i can hehehe .. but not that in that album there's the typical U2 sound

After R&H,the band wanted to change its sound,as we all know.It worked. As it did for the Beatles on Pepper.AB is a masterpiece.Zooropa,is not.The band obviously dont think much of Zooropa either, its a "throw in" with the AB re-release.Whats that saying about Zooropa ? The release is called, AB deluxe this and deluxe that.Nothing about Zooropa. That would have been like, including October, with the Boy remaster.

The Beatles, went back to a rock sound in 1968,as did the Stones.U2,for some reason, stayed away from making a rock record, for an entire decade. The band needed, to go back to "their sound".To be relevant again.Thankfully,in 2000 they did.

I know I should use a larger "sample size" for more statistically significant results but I believe Q Magazine (I'm not too sure what the thoughts are on this publication in this forum - I like it since it's very U2, Radiohead, and Oasis friendly) generally rates AB higher than JT while North America's Rolling Stone magazine seems to give the edge (ha!) to JT in their polls.

    Again, just stirring the pot.

LOL. JT and AB are both brilliant. But,JT made the band mega here in the States.WOWY,ISHFWILF and Steets (of course),are U2s anthems. But,IMO,One is U2s best song (and Bad).
