Well put. As much as it gets bashed around here (not by all), I think ATYCLB was/is a VERY relevant album that really suited the times at the turn of the century. Admittedly, the emotion on the accompanying Elevation Tour (namely the third leg) has definitely added to the allure of this album but it in itself really was a big deal a decade ago and still sounds pretty solid now.

Back on topic: Achtung Baby is, and always will be, "relevant" - even if they didn't get it quite right for the remaster.

As usual,I agree with you.ATYCLB sold over 12 million copies.Recieved world critical acclaim.Won 7 Grammy Awards.Beautiful Day,Walk On,Stuck In A Moment and Elevation were all very successful singles. Yes,I think that is a relevant release my friend. On this 10 year anniversary, since the cowards attacked my country, this release still gives me chills.Walk On always brings me back to that terrible day.I love this release. It is very personal to me.As is the 10.24.01 show I was at.It got me through that time.Somehow.

As for AB ? One of the most successful records of all time. One,MW and The Fly were huge singles. The album sold 18 million copies, and won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance. One,IMO,is U2's greatest song. Is AB relevant ? Yes,I would think so.....
  2. U2 don't have to pander to current tastes to be relevant. They've shown this on Achtung Baby, which was sonically unique in the music world at the time, but still brought about a new relevancy for the band. They've proven that they don't have to give a damn about the GENERAL audience and still have critical and commercial success with a relevant (but unique-sounding) record.
  3. Thank u clover68!! Ive been reading thru this thread to find the track listings of the CDs and DVDs, Thanks for posting!!

And I agree: Huge let down on the Sydney DVD.. I'm sure they could have come up with something better.. The TV Special Broadcast would have been AMAZING!! (I forget the date and place of tht Special)...

Looks like i'm gonna fork out for the $150.00 Edition. The trailer for the movie sold me...
  4. Found this on a dutch news site:
    Damien Rice (Who???) - One
    Depeche Mode- So Cruel
Jack White - Love Is Blindness
Patti Smith - Until The End Of The World

Hopefully the other songs will also be covered by other artists, we know Glasvegas will do a song. That means there still are 7 songs to be covered..
  5. Glasvegas collabs with Jack White.
  6. Oke thats good news That makes 8 songs left to be covered, or at least I hope the other song will also get covered.
  7. Jack White doing Love is Blindness could be awesome.
  8. Maybe Muse could do The Fly? I would love R.E.M. doing a cover too.

    That would be awesome.
  10. For Me:
    Zoo Station: ????
Even Better Than The Real Thing: Foo Fighters
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses: Snow Patrol
    The Fly : Muse
    Mysterious Ways: RHCP
Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World: R.E.M
Ultra Violet (Light My Way): Coldplay
    Acrobat: Pearl Jam
But looking at the names of the cover artist until now, I know this is not going to happen
  11. I don't even think RHCP and Foo Fighters wanna be associated with U2.
  12. I thought the members of RHCP and U2 are/were friends, you might be right about the Foo's.
